There is some reasonable talent at the Strikers, but I mean maybe two or three players.

The issue is the gap to the rest of them.

Berry starting to sound like he's all talk. He said he had a 'plan' for tonight . ?

Would want to see improvement in Shield games to back up his positive talk.

The loss of 3 world class 20/20 allrounders from last seasons Redbacks was the main reason the Strikers failed this season
Christian, Pollard, Afridi were in the end irreplaceable
Thier big hitting ability was sorely missed
The bowling lost the services of Tait, and Lyon for most of the season
AS were going OK until Botha was unavailable
Add the loss of Rashid who bowled well last season

This new BBL comp has raped AS of some great talent from last season

We didn't have Afridi last season, we had Rashid as our second import

Yet have a look at the side now......where are ANY ALLROUNDERS???? (OBrien is it, and he is only just)
The Redbacks had such success with Allrounders (Pollard, Afridi, Christian) why totally go away from this idea??

Blame the franchise owners. They picked the rubbish squad and let Christian go.
Some very ordinary decisions made

AS 125
FERGUSON 41[29] excellent effort
The 2 meduim pacers Bird + Faulkner
And the 3 spinners Hussey+ Warne and Mckay did the job rolling AS
Hussey and Mckay are unique spinners , both have a very swift quciker ball
MCKAY 3/17[4] the pick of the bowlers

ADAM
Crosthwaite had plenty to say to Wade and Warne tonight
Adam has plenty of talent, but appears to get sidetracked with the verbals at times
When Hussey bowled Crosthwaite you could hear a MS player laughing

WADE
A new tactic at the death, he keeps with one glove , for run outs
Loved the comment by Fleming
""He is the Michael Jackson of wicketkeepers, with his one glove."

MR JACK BIRD
On a HIGH at the end of the AS innings with 2 wickets
He is on a hat trick in the 1st final

BATTING LINE UP
Needing a big score and to win by 80 runs was needed to make the finals
Franklin batted in front of Cooper
Franklin might be a good hitter, but he was underdone for this match, so not a good decision
You need a dynamite batting line up and performance to win by 80 runs
So dropping Slam Cam Ramp Borgas was a strange selection

MS had a simple chase, and a spot in the finals if they won
AS needed to keep The Stars on 45 to make the finals
3/36 early was a worry

WHITE
But cometh the moment cometh the man
Cam White the skipper [except when warney is bowling] rose to the occasion
Has failed every game this season
But tonight when needed Cam showed up

LYON
Extricated one of the best Run Outs Ive seen
Was bowling
Fielded a rocket drive by Wright
Fielded cleanly, and almost in the one action scooped the ball backhand and ran out the 'Non Striker' Quinney

MS 4/129 18.5]
WHITE 28[30]
BAILEY 19[11] bats to low
HUSSEY 41 [36] Got his team over the line, whadda player
FRANKLIN 2/22 [3] handy player this guy
OBREIN 0/12[4] outstanding effort

MY VOTES
3 MCKAY
2 FERGUSON
1 HUSSEY

Would have to agree with you Mal.

Extraordinary Run Out effected by Lyon. To field the ROCKET so cleanly one handed and to have the presence of mind to basically instantaneously backhand the ball onto the stumps was simply a stunning piece of work.

I thought McKay was a pace bowler? Didn't watch the game but I'm glad
Mcgain got belted. Interesting that we are coached by a Vic, captained by a vic, wear a combination of nsw and
Vic colours (close enough) and have played 6 Victorian players and 3 nsw players. I'm glad they were a national disgrace, because to me they don't provide product for the south Australian consumer in cricket anymore.
Rant over. Bring back boof, dizzy and choco

Used the slower-ball bouncer well.
It can only be so long before someone works out how to pick it.
Most frustrating delivery to watch.

Proves Lyon is a thinking cricketer. Still early years but he is very switched on inside that giant cranium of his.
Still learning his craft but the potential and smarts he shows is exciting.

Crossthwaite is an embarrassment to himself and the strikers. How about shut up and make a run!

Don't mind players chirping on the field but back it up for christ's sake, once at least.

At least (almost any other keeper in Aust) wouldn't have been an embarassment with his antics and he couldn't have done any worse with the bat than Crossthwaite.

CoverKing said what?

Agree with AF on this one!
