I,ll have another crack at breaking some news after my last forum fo-par :) . ...Spoke to a Gaza A grader last night who told me the new expected date for the conclusion of the redevelopment is now MAY. The ground wont be ready on time for the start of the season. Again probably not big news for those in the know as you may well have already been aware but thats 2 blokes who have asured me its not gonna be ready till mid season  Will make the draw quite interesting.

I dare say they'll just play at Thebby, or ask for away games for their first 4 games.

Either way not an ideal preparation for a premiership defence.
Don't play games with a girl who can play 'em better...

Thebarton or away games until ready. Probably won't be ready until mid or late June is the word, so could be missing the entire first round, before playing at Klemzig. With over 2 million spent on the facilities and surrounds, a darn good trade off though, although not an ideal preparation. Training for juniors and seniors up on the lower oval at Greenacres, in March. Facilities and clubrooms still open and trading at Klemzing though, which is good for the club. Highly professional coaches, players and officials however, so should not be greatly effected with Grainger, sure to have them up and about during this time.

What my mate couldnt tell me was who is replacing him. Does any of you SAAFL bofins know the answer to that one?

Geppies former 'greats'

David Cearns, Bob Smith, Brian Smith, Barry Bamford, Dennis, Neil and John Sachse, Malcolm Ellis, Shane Tongerie, John May, Josh Mail, Martin Pike and former Sturt coach Brenton Phillips. At one time in the late sixties and early seventies, there were 22 players from Gepps Cross in North Adelaide's four teams.

And in the future, maybe, Michael McMahon, Steven Tahana, Vlad Zecevic and Cameron Craig.

ha ha  i'm assuming that guy is paul merritt. and yeah he would spring to mind. and since big jack got his hair cut, he doesn't seem to stand out as much in peoples eyes (probably a good thing). most tend to think of the jars, the weed, ando, and meady. but everyone outside the circles of the saafl automatically say "oh is andrew jarman coaching there?". so in saying that, probably jarman would be the main one for us.

How old is the gepps club?

The current Gepps Cross club was formed 60 years ago this year, in 1952. I'm not sure when they moved from Gepps Cross to Northfield. I have a photo of a Gepps Cross team from 1902 but that was probably a different club.

Would have thought Mark Jones from Broadview would clearly be the best player to have been in D1 in the last 10 or 15 years.

Been many wonderful players but none better than Jones.

Spencer, Bartell and Klemm from Goodwood, Doggy Muir and Jamie Sibbick from University, Pete Smith from Gepps X, Merritt and Haythorpe from Gaza or in Haythorpes case (Kilburn, Salisbury North and Gaza) Warner from Broadview and Salisbury North, Ashley and Alfy Steed from Port District, Lukey Pastyn and Craig Hermann from Henley and a number of others such as Dallas Wiles from KIlburn have all been amongst the very, very best players in D1 football, which ultimately is the true test of a player in Amateur Football

1 - Jones 2 - Spencer 3 - Bartell would be my top 3, with Mark Jones clearly the best player I have seen for many a year - wonderful player

The great shame is that we don't get to see them in proper state Football against Victoria any longer and unfortunately are stuck with this Under 23 utter crap and bull**it. They will try to keep justifying a reason for the U23 hybrid garbage that gets served up and still we get it. Most of the D1 players and more specifically, many of the coaches want nothing to do with it and clearly the crowds with a bumper 130 people watching last years embarrassment, showed exactly what people think of the U23 concept
