I'm led to believe that after at least 3 decades of tending the square in the middle of the Strath oval, former champion express bowler from the 70s, Perry Jones has handed over the job to local lad Luke Cousins. Being a bowler, Perry was known for producing bowler friendly pitches, the most notorious probably being last years semi-final where the highest team score in 4 completed innings was about 70 odd.
I think batsmen may start breathing a little easier from now on.
Having said that, the committed effort put in by Perry over all those years certainly deserve accolades of the highest order, for it is the efforts of volunteers such as him that every club crave for.
