What about Neil BUTTONs son Luke taking the mark of the fortnight today
Wish he was playing at Norwood, he is a sensational mark.

SIREN!!!

Jimmy,

As a Port (AFL) supporter, i'm interested to know how Chaplin went today. I believe you listened to the game on the radio, were the comments about his game positive? And also Thomson?

I'm sure Double Blues supporters would be hoping both players only played average games so they'll be playing for Sturt for a bit longer yet.

thomo got plenty of it and could be a chance...chappy was ok nothing special.

id have to say thomo is more a chance to go up than chappy but depends on ports needs i guess.
\

Interesting:

Against West last week I thought that the early damage before our comeback was all done by Thomson & Bentley, Bentley went up and Thomson played well again,,, he must be close

Are you sure it's his son Mal ?

I played with Chris Button in under 12's in 1984 who was Neil's son, not impossible, just a big age difference.

Some Panther supporters could shed some light on this maybe as Chris was a gun footballer but never really kicked on at South.

Worst bye you could ever cop is Rd 1, puts you a week behind all the other clubs at a crucial stage of the season. Bays fans would be realising that now.

heard a few times on the radio the commentators laugh at a few umpiring decisions, pretty even each way so dont see how any bays fans can blame the umps for part of this loss.

maybe they took sturt too lightly??? but i think sturt should just get the credit that rick has really sorted some things out and we were able to be too good for the bays this time.

i still think glenelg will go ok this year and having the bye in rd 1 is not ideal.

Im really impressed with Sturts fitness, running games out is great. We have soooo many young players but they are all putting their hands up to contribute. For most of the game, i was hearing names such as wark, smith, evans, button, darling, gum. Coad was great down back and chambo bagged 6 but didnt hear a lot of sheedy, nelson, whiteman, okeefe etc, and these are the guys who we have ad to rely on a lot. That bodes well for the future and with the 2's off to the same start, its all :D :D :D down at unley.

now off to alberton where those :D may turn into these  im just hoping that the baby blues give it their all!!!!!!!!!

great win sturt, top stuff :D:D

Dutchy wrote:I didnt get there to 1/4 time so I missed our best footy, maybe I jinxed them?...anyway full credit to Sturt who had some great run but also got some gifts right in front of goal...Glenelg were very rusty, well I hope it was rust because if we play at that intensity and skill all year we will fill Sturts spot down low...

We were soft at the contest, undisciplined, lacked structure and went wide way too many times. Only positve I could find was seeing Fish back out there...whens Mouse back? ...oh yeah the other positive is if your going to play like that do it at this time of the year!

But it was more than a victory for Greece. It was a stirring example to free people throughout the world of what a few brave men can accomplish once they refuse to submit to tyranny.

i dont think any of us are blaming the umpires for the loss, (well i hope not anyway) but their performance was terrible and both sets of players knew judging by the lack of respect they received resulting in a big tally of 25 & 50 metre penalties being paid.

as for the game not pretty viewing at all with the enormous numbers sturt played back after qtr but it worked well for them as chambers is still a quality forward who managed to kick goals.
