Yes but it does promote professionalism which goes along way to building a winning culture.

Spot on. Makes them look like a TEAM

When they are on the field fighting between each other, walking off the field, and when good club men say they would never play in the A grade side due to the in-fighting, they could all rock up in dinner suits, it doesn't make a lick of difference.

All players wearing the team colours... surely that's enough for hills footy.

Will this be the year there is finally a decision made about Callington? I know no games have been played yet but on the clearances page there seems to be more outs than ins and that can't be good.

I think Nairne and Meadows could be big improvers this year. Will make the fight for a top 5 birth tough between 6... hopefully a team or 2 from the bottom 4 can lift their games.

As Bigshow82 mentioned on the previous page I'm sure Callington
like Gum are hoping for A Premiership this year. Good luck

you keep bringing up the same shit abt infighting. this is my first season at the club, numbers have been reasonable at training 20-25 and there has been plenty of encouragement. Hopefully u might see a united Gum for 2012.

Interesting chat here boys, I'd agree with one thing - teams should attend games looking like teams.
It brings money into the club with everyone being in the same kit first and foremost and if a club is smart enough they'll be able to market themselves at the same time because lots of blokes will wear the gear other than on game day. Slacks might be a bit much for good ol fashion country folk to slip into but, most would only wear em for a funeral or a wedding OR A B&S??! ;)

What does everyone think about the draw? Top five playing the bottom five straight off the rank and in order....?

Would it be a more viable option that the top five sides from the previous season play eachother 3 times and then the bottom side once? Then the sellar dwellers that sneak into the five can possibly attract players the following year and keep themselves there.

Might not be much different to a promotion/relegation but I'm sure there's plenty to think about - firstly is it even a feasible option or would it create a callington v sedan GF?

Thoughts?

Reasonably tough run home for some of those teams who seem to be favourites to make finals. Will this impact on the quality of finals footy we might see?

Definitely but would improve the competition? Would it mean good teams have to beat good teams to play finals until such time as the entire comp improves?

What sort of drugs are you guys on ?

The best team will win the Grand Final and the worst team will finish last.

It doesn't matter when you play each other during the season unless you
before hand if a team is weakened or strengthen due to ins and outs

Or are you suggesting the draw is rigged to make the weak sides feel better
early in the season and then have reality catch up with them.

Rather than than make little Johnny feel good for a short time why not
address the issue of why the big difference in team performance

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

If you guys are so concerned about an even comp get the financially stronger clubs
( predominately finals contenders ) to throw some money to Cally and Sedan.
I'm sure they would be grateful

Most HFL clubs would do well to follow the lead of Milang in C Grade. 95% of players arriving to games on time proudly wearing club attire and never forfeiting.
Players win awards. Teams win games. Clubs win Premierships.

Looking like a team and playing like a team are completely different. All players wearing a club shirt/jumper should be enough without the slacks etc.
Haven't seen any awards handed out for best dressed team. Plenty handed out for best playing team. If the bottom 2 sides got all dressed up to go to the footy will they win more games. I wouldn't think so.

Settle down lips, this is a forum for I dunno.... um....
It was a suggestion on the grounds that weaker clubs who can reach dizzy heights achieve two things 1) Give their locals hope while keeping the town interested 2) Attract players to a club that has the perception of being on its way up.
People would have to be nieve to think that Callington in particular do not already pay players, they have been paying players good money for a long time
The bottom line is there are sides in this particular competition that will sooner or later dwindle in to oblivion and by your thoughts this is totally ok, nothing can be done, spend more money blah blah blah.

Maybe your reply should've been simply 'no this will not work because it sacrifices the success of the strong clubs, instead the draw should be randomly selected.'
For which I would've replied 'great post lips! A random draw would mean clubs like cally might win a game before round 8.'

I know in the SFL they do a similar thing where the 4 games you play someone twice is determined on where you finish the year before. So for example the top 4 teams will play 2 top four teams twice and then two top 8 teams twice, whereas the bottom 4 teams is the other way around.

It does favour those mid range teams but does help to even up the ladder a bit and I know the bottom two teams are now starting to build up a bit of a rivalry because they get a chance to win up to two games fo the year!
The only time i've ever been wrong...was when I thought I was wrong!!!

Mliang would do well to follow all the other HFL clubs lead and have an A and B Grade showing up on time, in club attire, and never forfeiting.

Ok I have settle down now Champ and read your post a bit closer.

Your suggestions are worth merit and perhaps the HFL could adopt your ideas
Pity they were not voiced earlier to save clubs that have folded in previous years not just in the Hills
It could result in Callington winning a couple of games before round 8 now we just have to work out how they can win a couple after round 8
If the idea is implemented and works perhaps the AFL could use it aswell to help their struggling clubs win more games during the season
Do you think it could work for other sports like soccer or cricket ?
The Adelaide Reds and the Redbacks might benefit from it too
This could be huge.

P.S. Not sure why I would be concerned if you liked my post or not

:-bd That a way lippo, now you're getting the whole forum thing..
I'm not sure if it would help other codes or even the AFL as I like to comfort myself with the fact that they are professional sports with a salary cap and what not.
