Your suggestions are worth merit and perhaps the HFL could adopt your ideas
Pity they were not voiced earlier to save clubs that have folded in previous years not just in the Hills
It could result in Callington winning a couple of games before round 8 now we just have to work out how they can win a couple after round 8
If the idea is implemented and works perhaps the AFL could use it aswell to help their struggling clubs win more games during the season
Do you think it could work for other sports like soccer or cricket ?
The Adelaide Reds and the Redbacks might benefit from it too
This could be huge.

P.S. Not sure why I would be concerned if you liked my post or not

The AFL do this already. Obviously it's easier because not every team plays each other twice but the top teams play each other alot more than the bottom clubs do.
Hey here's another great idea, let's leave things exactly how they are and not try and think out of the box to fix a problem...
It's an interesting idea and it's good to see idea's flying around such as 3 divisions, C grade and the like.

And not sure if it was sarcasm or not but a salary cap would never work.

Ah some common sense at last
Good post informer and yes you did detect the sarcasm
I think the 3 divs would solve a lot of problems with more clubs from
current divs getting more competitive games during the season
Should also solve the money problem as either clubs spend and go up
or stay where they are happy

What clubs do you reckon would make up the third division?

The C grade will be rebranded as "Sunday Divsion" (*or similar) this season....

I would assume this is a stepping stone into creating a Division 3.

Love the banter, love it!

Lips you disagreed with my suggestion then agreed with Informer it was a good one to think outside the square? I know it's Friday but I'm confused.

Anyway at the risk of repeating myself....

To think outside the square and improve the entire hills competition something shuold be atleast investigated and at the very least introduce a random draw at the start of a season.
As panther said the SFL have also introduced my previous suggestion of who plays who, how many times. Sounds like it's working...?

Sorry if my previous point sounded stupid but I thought we were being sarcastic... no a salary cap wouldnt work and hasnt work in many other leagues previously - hence the points system.

And no, I dont think local football should be compared to elite level as per lips post...

It's Friday arvo banter - joy!

Surely not enough teams to make a three div comp? But if one were to be introduced how many per div and would it be based on promotion/relegation?

Any suggestions of the teams? (Inc city comp)

I'm going to have a go and yes Im going to get abused by someone which is the same reason this wont ever happen, club pride etc..

Div 1

1. Mt Barker
2. Uraidla
3. Blackwood
4. Onka Valley
5. Hahndorf
6. Lofty
7. Iron bank
8. Lobethal

Div 2.

1. TV
2. Bridge
3. Birdwood
4. Kersbrook
5. Echunga
6. meadows

Div 3.

1. Cally
2. Sedan
3. Maccy
4. Nairne
5. Kangy
6. Gumeracha

Wouldnt it make for a red hot season if sides were playing for their division placement in the following season - all of a sudden every single game would count!

This would maybe work if there was a relegation system in place, points system between clubs might also need to be reconfigured.

Yes Im pipe dreaming! Yes the teams selections are NOT personal - I just looked at minor round ladders etc.

Let the abuse begin!

Only problem with those 3 divisions is I think its a bit harsh on Nairne, Gum and Kangy. Maccy have been down the bottom for years so they can stay in Div 3, but that would leave a 3 team comp. Milang could play in it but would they have the numbers for the B Grade? Would they have colts? Blackwoods C grade would most likely come close to winning that comp (or would have last year) but do they have the numbers to fill a D grade? Other clubs with C grades definitely couldn't, although most could fill junior teams in it.

I would leave the comp as is pretty much, although TV should go back down to country. We will see how Bridgy go this year in Central. Perhaps the league should look at trying to coax a strong club in a neighbouring league to join Central (e.g. Strath) to even up the numbers?

My call would be;
Div 1
1. Mt Barker
2. Uraidla
3. Blackwood
4. Onka Valley
5. Hahndorf
6. Lofty
7. Ironbank
8. Lobethal

Div 2.
1. TV
2. Bridge
3. Birdwood
4. Kersbrook
5. Echunga
6. Meadows
7. Nairne
8. Gumeracha
9. Kangarilla

Div 3.
1. Cally
2. Sedan/Cambrai
3. Maccy
4. Milang
5. Blackwood C's
6. Ironbank C's
7. Mt Barker C's
8. Uraidla C's
9. Mt. Lofty C's
10. Cornerstone
The Div 3 comp would only be one senior team and perhaps one colts team (e.g. U14's). Due to the size, current performance and number of colts coming through Maccy, CUE and S/C will find it very hard to be able to provide 2 full competetive senior teams in the future. This option still gives the club footy and a chance for the kids coming through to still play for the club.

"Sunday Division" hey. I hope they don't go with this name as it suggests games will be played on Sundays. Most players I know don't want to play on Sundays, they prefer Friday night or Saturday night after the A grade. Sunday games also stretch volunteers who would've worked at the footy Saturday. This would not work particularly in the long term. The Sunday C grade competition in the SFL almost dissolved before it was moved to Friday night footy.

They should have switched to Country 10 years ago. Both divs would have been better for it.

Wouldn’t Div three just play like everyone else on a Saturday.
That would make more sense.

Here's a thought..

Narine & Gum must stay in country div, very competative
Kangy will be winning premierships in 5 years, their junior program is strong and they have a gd coach.
Sedan & Maccy will come good, both clubs are working hard..but they'll come good (only small towns).
Callington need to go to c grade, last year to many 'incidents'..send them back for a coulpe of years so they can build a strong senior team.

Therefore country play with a bye, or bring a Blackwood or Cornerstone team accross..
