New York Magpies ANZAC DAY 2007

Postby Jimmy » Mon Apr 16, 2007 3:41 am

for wedgie and smithy on another board who asked about our anzac day celebrations, check out nyfooty.com and find the link to anzac day.

what we do is basically have a huge piss up and celebrate anzac day with aussie culture, beers, wine, food and footy and ofcourse a few diggers, courtesy of the greatest generation foundation. we get roughly 500+ ppl to the event and this year could even hit 1000 as the capacity for the venue is 1400. We get a big mix of both aussies and yanks to this event and others we have which proves a good recruiting ground.

I find that being an ex-pat, you tend to celebrate events like this a little more knowing you are so far from home.

you can check nyfooty.com for photos from last year and this years event which is next satdy 21st april. Also, go to youtube and type in new york magpies football and you will see our team sing waltzing matilda on the stage from last year :)

any more info lads???

I really luv the back of their guernsey? With the 2 towers and liberty as stripes, very original.

lol, two closest clubs to me in the SFL wear black and white and black and gold/yellow.
Its no coincidence that I ended up playing at the furthest away club, blue and white I can handle.
