Yes however if they have one or less legs they are indeed worth zero points unless playing for Callington...

That could be interesting to Gum who have recruited a few of these players thinking they r no points perhaps they should stop and have a count of their 2012 player points before they fork out any more torrens valley like cheques!

Come on mate someone of your quality shouldnt be worried abt Div 7 hacks. As for the Torrens Valley cheques, you must be thinking of birdwood.

foxstar - I believe div 4-8 are 2 points unless they played more reserves than A Grade last season then they would be 0 point. I may be corrected on this. But surely, if Gums are picking up div 6-7 players, they wouldn't be paying them any more than a few bucks for petrol to get them to the game to make up numbers. If they are paying them more than that well then they have too much money at the club.

There are some very handy players running around in division 6 and 7 who would make grat pick ups for any club however too many and you risk introducing a div 6,7 standard/environment to your club.
Does Gumeracha and co believe that Hills Country is relative to div 6,7 standard? Does anyone else want to sehd light on a comparison?

The thing i find when people look at players is where they played the year before when this should be a guide only at best!

There are many many players running around especially in div5 and div6 that could be and should be playing at higher levels but for a whole range of reasons are not. Playing with Friends, Family, local lads from that club and indeed Glory seeking.

So the point i'm making is just because the player comes from a certain div. doesnt mean he is that standard it also works the other way you recruit a bloke from div1 and he may well be a spud.

and for what its worth i would have hills country a grand finalist in div4. IMO
you've gota keep on keep'n on .........

I'd put Birdwood and Echunga in 3
Probably 3-5 in Div 4just, top end of 5

The rest in the lower grades. I Div 5 side would anihilate the likes of Callington, sedan

Important note for clubs - if you have to take both shoes off to assist you perform the count then you may be in a bit of trouble staying within your points allocation .......

Only going by my rough prediction of ladder this year i would say Echunga and Kersbrook Div2, Birdwood Div3, Nairne, Meadows and Gum div 4, Maccy and Kangarilla Div6, Sedan Div7 and Callington Div 25. Not too many leagues would range over such a large difference in standards which is the problem we face.

Very interesting, I'd say that Div 2/3 are pretty good standards of footy so it'd be very interesting.

Any of these clubs playing a SAAFL side in a trial?

Dream on Lonewolf. Uraidla would push any of your Div 1 teams and the top couple in Country Div would be very competitive in Div 3 and 3 - 5 would be strong Div 4 sides. And I've been involved in the Amateur League. How much have you had to do with the HFL?

we colonel light played kangys in a trial last year and we beat them very easily...there is no way a hill country club would be competitive with the top 5 in div 2

IMO..Maccy, Kangarilla, Sedan & Callington probably wouldnt win a game in div 7.
Meadows, Gumms & Nairne would be low div 6/high div 7.
Birdwood, Kersbrook & Echunga div 5.
Lets not forget Birdwood finished bottom (around about) in the Central two years ago.
Also the SAAFL is a diffrent type of football, much more skillful etc
