Country div is, unfortunelty, too varied from top to bottom thus you will never get a true representation of the skills of each team.

by objective.. i'm assuming you mean subjective.

your mum is subjective

I've watched a bit of footy over the past 5 or 6 years in both the Hills country comp and in the amateur league. The styles of footy are completely different and hard to compare, but if I had to this is how I would see it.
IMO :)
Echunga, Birdwood, Kersbrook would be pretty competitive in Div 5, probably in the top 4, but I would suggest they would struggle in the div 4 comp.
Correct me if I am wrong, and I know it is only pre-season and a completely different format of a game, but didn't Plympton come up and play in the 20/20 last year and win it. I believe they played off in the grand final of the div 5 comp last year, with only 11 wins from 18 in the minor round.
I think Gum, Meadows and Nairne would struggle in div 5, and would probably only be middle of the road in div 6. There is some pretty handy footballers running around in div 6, and believe it or not, most of those clubs are getting 30+ guys a night on the training track right from the middle of November.
Kangarilla and Maccy would again be in the top 4 in the div 7 comp, and I'm pretty sure Sedan and Callington would really struggle in the C grade comp.

Comment how you like, this is only my opinion from my observations, but would be interested to hear what you think.

Plympton lost that 20/20 GF. Then played Hahndorf the next week in a trial and after 80 minutes without time on (so around 3 quarters) lost by close to 30 goals. Now Hahndorf beat Birdwood the year before both games comfortably (when Birdwood was in Hills Central) but by nowhere near that. Not even half that. I have seen a top of the table Div 3 game, and based on what I saw Birdwood would have been more than competitive against those sides

Your assessment is exactly as I would see it Bat Pad. These guys making comments from the Amateur League think they are the AFL!

Are we to assume then that opinions aren't welcome in the HFL. Perhaps that's why you won't embrace the promotion/relegation system which would be a major gain for the HFL. And BTW, that's my opinion having seen both SAAFL & HFL over many years.

:? If that's pointed at me, I'm from the Hills League, not the Amateur League bud...but like I said, have watched a bit all over the place over the previous years. Just my observations.

I just don't think promotion/relegation works in the Hills like it does in the suburbs. Kersbrook, Birdwood & Echunga have tried, TV will try again this year and Ironbank and Bridgewater haven't been legitimate top 3 prospects over the years.

For what it's worth I watched five games of div 4 last year including the prelim and gf in the SAAFL.

While Kilburn were the eventual premiers I certainly didnt think they were a standard above the top sides of hills country.

Comparisons need to be on recent experiences not based on 'over the years'. SAAFL clubs are up and dwon each year, yes its a different style of footy for a number of reasons however I do not think the gap is huge.

Div 3-4 IMO would be around the mark with hills city pushing further.

I agree..about time HFl do an update...why dont they promote the league and let people know wots going on..all other leagues do..

Are the clubs dictating re the clearance page..if they are they should get there heads out of the sand and give the footy follower uptodate info..

Id luv to no why it doesnt get updated..I cant see any reason why not!!

Can anyone advise why??

Which teams will climb/lose the most ladder positions this season?

Top 5 Would Be (in a rough order)
Birdwood (seem to have lost a couple- but will be keen to be up there again this year)
Echunga (Lost their captain, but kept majority of the team that won last year and picked a few up, its between them and Birdwood for top 2 again I would say).
Kersbrook (Gained some previous players who should help push the top two sides again)
Nairne (a lot of talk about recruits, but they still need to make up the 15 - 20 goal margin between them and the two 2/3).

Pretty Much I can see 5th Sport coming down to these three sides.....
Gumeracha
Meadows
Macclesfield

Just Holding down Last Three Spots....
Kangarilla
Sedan Cambrai
Callington
