Heard that Echunga defeated Tailem by around a goal, not sure how close to full strength either side were.

Mypo will probably have the best depth outside Imps, thats why I have tipped the Tigers for a grand final berth.

Jervois I think will be right up there because I reckon Coulter will perhaps return and they are likely to recruit mid season as they have done in the past.

Mannum will probably drop, as will Ramblers, but both likely to maintain top 5 positions due to their 6 or 7 real quality players.

Newchurch is staying at Tailem Bend

Interesting to see Newchurch play for Millicent yesterday in a trial, along with Travis Wilson from ramblers!!

Pretty early but am going to have a crack at the ladder and see how we go.

Imps only improved again on last season one would think and with their rival teams losing a few players and probably not picking up enough to cover them cant really see anyone preventing back to back flags for the blues.

THEN DAYLIGHT

Mypo look to be the big movers to me and another year of senior footy under the belt of this young side will only see them improve and make the big dance but unfortunately will only be the other side on the ground grand final day

Ramblers with losing the quality of players they have over the summer may find it a little tougher this season but will definately be very competitive again. And run a very close third but may still make the big day.

Jervois could possibly be better this year than last but cant see them doing much more than just playin finals footy thjs year

Tailem could possibly finish above jervois with being able to keep hold of all recruits from last year and will only improve. Will come down to who wins the critical games between these two clubs and be able to clinch some important wins along the way

Mannum with the lose of the players reported to be moving on i think they will find it reallly hard going this year but have the potential to play some good footy and cause a few upsets.

Meningie have picked up a new coach and a few players but also lost some real quality players. They will definately be better than last year but can't see them doing enough to get off the bottom of the ladder. In saying that could possibly finish above mannum if they are all on board and dont have any passengers and wan't to play good hard footy for the new coach

Imperials Senior squad continued their great pre season form and will be heading into round one with a heap of confidence.
Imperials v Mt Lofty
League win by 13 goals
Reserves win by 16 goals

A couple key things in these games was league was without Merritt, Puattii, Kowald and Hodge all will be ready for round one. The other thing is one of the best goal kicking performances in reserves I have ever witnessed Imperials kicked 2.2 in first quarter and in the following 3 qtrs they kicked a staggering 17.0

I have blue blood but as a spectator haven't witnessed a senior squad perform the way these men are.
Premiership Favourites for me in both grades

Mt Lofty will probably finish bottom 2 in Hills Central this year. A win against them is not a massive achievement, in saying that I agree that Imps are still strong favourites for season 2012.

I know trial form can be misleading but the wins by Ramblers and Meningie against strong Great Southern teams is very impressive. Over the years many RMFL teams have been non competitive against these top Great Southern teams and it adds a bit of interest into a competition that everybody believes will be dominated by Imperials.
I believe Imperials will start premeirship favourites but I dont think they will have it as easy as some think. Jervois are the concern with another big loss to Onkas yesterday. On trial form alone they would be short favourites for the wooden spoon!!

Jervois apparently have had a few players out in both of their trials, apparently for weddings both weeks.

With Coulter back, their best 5 players are perhaps the equal of any other club.

Its the case each year, but I think what will strongly determine ladders positions this year, will be injuries, especially to key personnel.

The bears looked good against Strathalbyn although strath had 12 players from the Reserves and a Senior Colt line up in the A grade. Im sure they had some players out too! Strath were on top all day in the Ressies bar a late challenge from Meningie - 13.0 to 6.6 i think the final score was - all games were played in good spirit - best of luck to the Bears this season!

Mannum beat Barmera comfortably on the weekend, missing a few from their best 18, as are most in trials. Sounds as though everyone has written them off. Pech and Harvey are as good as any other recruits into the competition (played against them). I suppose the biggest unknown is these 'kids' from town that have been discussed.

A couple of good results versus Great Southern teams. Has the standard gone up another level this year? There will be some great country football played this year in the RMFL. The leagues top 10 players are as good as anywhere IMO.

Motlop would have kicked about four but set up another 6 or so more playing at full forward, he didn't really try with his talent i suppose he didn't need too. Motlop when floating up the ground tried to look for elijah ware a lot. Meningie for there only trial of the year were pretty well drilled for a bottom team last year. Motlop has obviously taught them a few structures e.g forward press and huddles at kick ins etc that they were doing. Ware was handy in the middle along with another aboriginal player in the centre, they seem to go half pace but know what each other are doing. There ruckman won plenty of taps and the chf also took plenty of grabs sorry don't know names. Strath having only 7 from last years prelim team didn't have a set structure or height to challenge meningie, who would surprise if they finish bottom again.

Isn't the wooden spoon only 2 places from playing finals in the RMFL? Therefore, minor round form means very little I reckon....

There's no obvious standout for wooden spooner. This is looking as the most even season I've known for the RMFL. Not sure if its the points system, perhaps it is.

The RMFL will never go to a final 4 while the current administrators are in place. It is all about the $$$. 2 extras finals brings in a lot of cash even though the 5th team is rarely competitive in the final series.
