Will big Trev play this week Moe? And will the new home shorts be rolled out?

Aldinga v Christies - Christies, should be a good close game this one.
Cove v Porties - Cove comfortably.
Flaggies v Valley - Have Valley improved to the extent that has been eluded to on here? I think they will just get over the line.
Parks v Towns - No big Trev i believe, injured a shoulder in a trial and may miss a few, Moe? Towns for mine in another tight one.
Shoes v Brighton - last years premiers don't appear to be any worse off player wise so will win this one easily.
Lions v Hawks - The resurgent Hawks for mine, long year ahead for Lonsdale.
Wineys v Emus - Emus quite easily .

All in all not a bad round of footy with no huge blowouts expected.

Caught up with a couple of senior Cove lads over the Easter break. Turns out the majority are embarrassed about the fact the President and some committee members are enforcing the junior rule and preventing 2 lads from being cleared to play with Hackham. I think the rule is ridiculous to be honest and can't see why a Special General Meeting isn't called to modify it. Clearing these players would be for the betterment of the SFL and would only help a struggling club like Hackham improve. Yet road blocks are continually put in place to stop the weaker clubs from getting stronger. Its a shame individuals can't see the bigger picture beyond their own clubs. The SFL is sadly becoming a laughing stock of of many leagues throughout SA. Surely common sense would previal and allow these lads to play football in the SFL before they are lost to another League. How does the rule work if a player played all his juniors at Brighton for example then he moves to Aldinga and wants to play senior footy with the Sharks? Is he forced to travel for 40 odd mins twice a week and play for Brighton... cmon, what a joke. Be nice to see the SFL take some affirmative action and squash this rule immediately. Other leagues have a rule that no more than 3 junior players can transfer to a club within the league in any one year (whilst playing juniors). Once at senior level they can play where they like (any club)... lets face it they are then adults and can usually make their own decisions, whether they be right or wrong. I understand Reynella is the other club holding a player from being cleared to Hackham, surely they will follow the likes of Happy Valley and clear these players. If its so good at these clubs they will return in a year or two. Or do these clubs have a fear of becoming an Hackham or Aldinga. I think some individual pride needs to be swallowed by some club people before this league is propelled forward in any way. Sad... because it was once a strong 2 division competition.

Aldinga v Christies - I reckon Christies would have improved more than Aldinga since last year and will pick them by 3 goals.
Cove v Porties - Cove by 5 goals
Flaggies v Valley - Flaggies by 5 goals
Parks v Towns - Parks by 10 points
Shoes v Brighton - Brighton 10+ goals
Lions v Hawks - I also think Hawks
Wineys v Emus - Winies by 3 points

From memory, or from what I have read on this debate i think someone mentioned that it was the said club that proposed this rule years ago to stop stronger clubs poaching their up and coming players. I am not 100% sure of that so if someone could clarify that would be good. Has it now come back to haunt them?

I agree if a player wants to go elsewhere then let them go, unless they have outstanding debts with the club in which case they should be settled before the player is released.

Be interesting to see results this week as games at the start of the yearscan go either way if teams have a full contingent of 1st choice A-Graders, I will take;

Porties - Big preseason by all accounts, have not heard much out of cove but expect them to improve this year.
Aldinga - Thought they took some big steps last year, Christies appear to have improved also.
Flaggies - Their end of season form was good, confidence will be up, but will expecations weigh them down?
Towns - Stab in the dark this one, and based on Cranston not playing (if Cranston plays i'll take Morphie parks)
Hawks - Again bit of a stab in the dark, news out of the lions den ain't good.
Brighton - The team to beat, will they be happy with finally breaking through? Shoes still a bit of an unknown with a few replacements for their departures
Morphies - Although usually tight games no matter the circumstances, I think this year will be a blowout. Are the confirmed outs really this many, Milo, Farrier, Bradshaw, Frick, Proctor, Log, Ciampa, Newnham, Bennett, Baylis, Ware???

I think you'll find Proctor and Bennett are still playing.

Sorry, but I really don't know.
I know there are a few injury concerns, but I am nowhere near the inner sanctum anymore.
From my balcony across the road, I cannot see a few key players training.

Forum readers might remember that it was before the Edwardstown game last year I had a bit of a go at our players, and add to that I am the cricket club President, let's just say I am not Mr. Popular

Aldinga v Christies - New coach and Crates galore will see Christies get up, should be close
Cove v Porties - Port Noarlunga by 3 goals with new coach and revived squad. Cove look vulnerable.
Flaggies v Valley - Valley by 4 goals, no end to Flaggies 15 year losing streak against the Vikings.
Parks v Towns - Parks-Hard to pick as both have a lot of new faces, will go Towns by 10 points.
Shoes v Brighton - Brighton easily
Lions v Hawks - Another tough one, shoul;d be close, but Hawks just.
Wineys v Emus - Both had big changes, but Emus to prevail with speed and precision.

Some good games amongst this round hard to pick the best game with the only real blowout looking to come from Brighton and Shoes. Should be a great start to the year. Best of luck to all for 2012.

LMAO...that is good coming from you. You could probably say the same about Reynella. Why did you leave?

I think those players left because Noarlunga couldn't/wouldn't pay them the amounts they are getting elsewhere.

The Shoes will still be competitive I would think.
