Seems the new C grade coach couldnt get a team together - players not available or just dont want to play for him?

This is also the guy that walked out on the 18s last year when they couldnt make finals - he is a laughing stock of the club and why they gave him the C grade job is beyond me

I hear last night a longterm C grader and club legend made a few calls on Saturday and had 20 blokes ready to play - think they should give him the job

So if there were 20 blokes ready to play, why did you need to forfeit?
The thing with C grade is its easy to get people to say they are playing, but getting them to actually rock up is a completely different story

Yeah good call but I reckon might be easier to get blokes to rock up if they had respect for the coach and cant see that happening with the current coach but if things dont change and they want to play they might have to rock up to training and earn a spot in the b grade or put up with the coach the committee appointed. C grade is never easy

Noticed Tyron Bennett from Morphies has put in a clearance to the Mallee comp. Big loss if he leaves I'd say.

Played for Pinnaroo on the weekend and was B.o.g

Massive has actually moved to Pinnaroo as his missus got a job at the school up there. The great man was toying with the idea of driving back here to play in our key games but in the end made the fairly understandable decision to make a go of it up there and play footy. Certainly hoping the Chook Man will be back in a black and red jersey soon tho!

Also heard that Norm Smith medalist Lincoln Sharpe has left Brighton and followed Reid Beeching to Port Districts? He didnt know at 3/4s of his team mates names last year, but can certainly play the game as noted in the GF.

Heard it was with someone else CT.

Bennett is a very big loss for the Emus. CT is it true Howell has returned but is playing B grade? He is a player who could fill some of the void left by Bennett?

Yep Timmy Howell has indeed returned (from a desert island judging by his beard) to Morphies and after missing most the preseason played B grade round 1 (got best on ground) and played As on Saturday and got in the best again. A good in!

Some other rather interesting names who have returned to the club, played in the C grade on Sunday...

Your mail is twisted about Port Districts twistie man. I think you'll find it is Portland Sharpe has signed with & will play the Anzac Day clash v Flinders Pk.
He did only play a handfull of games last year at Brighton but no doubt will be missed. I think the Vale are struggling with height & are trying to get Gasko out of retirement with his bad knees, next they'll be playing Hewitt straight out of j--l
heard Bayley out for 12 weeks with a broken ankle as well.
Vale on the decline!

If Bayly is out for 12 weeks, that makes two serious leg injuries in as many weeks (Dan May form HV as well). Hope for all clubs they don't come in threes. The comp needs its best players out there each week. The SFL is certainly throwing up some surprises this year Reynella slide, Christies on the up, BDOS shaky and Cove on the slide, makes it very interesting from here.

We are just as short as we where last year when we were "rebuilding" and made it to the GF. In fact with "the little champ" in plaster, we are in fact taller for a few months...

As for being on the slide - id say all the top 4 teams are not as strong as previous years, if not the entire league.

Gasko hasnt been retired, has been playing at Myponga. I like to think that his return is along the lines of Thierry Henry and Paul Scholes returning to Arsenal and ManYoo... He has come back for a kick in the C grade, but with our young squad his natural leadership will be amazing around the place and IMHO he should be playing Bs as a minimum - if he wants to!

As with Matt "Rolls Royce" Ritter i seriously havent seen him since he played in the 2009 Flag so it was certainly a surprise to see him on the track on Thursday evening!

PS wasnt it your beloved Brighton who brought back Randall Lindsey from retirement/GSFL a few year back? He was old, looked old, and even his name sounds old...!!

CT, Since the GF replay is on this week it might be a good opportunity to bring back some former stars (just like the AU swimming team) for a dash down memory lane.
I know Randall 'Juice' Lindsay is still fit due to playing Mens Div 3 District Basketball. What is it about Myponga and the need to extend playing careers?

Looking forward to the game, I hope the Bombers can make a statement.

Gday KD, think after seeing the c grade on the weekend, im not sure we can put the word "FIT" in the same sentence as gasko and ritts just yet!! Speaking of fit, what you guys drinking down there? Aysh and Parko getting a kick in the 1's and playing well too. Looking forward to a good game, you guys always hard to beat on your turf, even when we were at our best.

It was a ripper of a goal too - I jumped up on the bench and cheered! That's the sort of goal that West Coast used to pull off in the early nineties before they all got on the cocaine.

If Gasko was to want to play A grade he is still very capable of it. Would be great to see finish off where he started & play finals footy for Morphies.
