After yesterdays result, it seems this year is alot more wide open than anyone might of thought. Brighton still the favourite but could any of the likes of Happy Valley, Reynella, Flaggies, Cove, Porties, Shoes, Morphies or even Morphie Parks challenge them for the Flag?? Is it Brighton by a long way or a team from nowheres year??

Way too early to say as yet as we have not seen enough of the challengers playing each other. Brighton going OK, but not yet overly convincing, HV going well, but have really only played one contender, but their performance against Cove in the wet must have been pretty special (sorry Bruce).

We should have a bit more idea in 6 weeks time, but won't be taking my metaphorical money off the Bombers at this stage. Smokie for me is a toss up between Porties and Valley. Porties been going along well with not much fanfare, Pippett must be putting in the work.

If pushed, it would be a GF between Brighton and Valley. Won't ever write off Reynella or MV though. Too many lessons learned over the years.

Definitely my picks for the GF with Shoes up there as a chance and possibly MV if they get some players back.

Very impressed with the Cobras yesterday. It really looked like they were back in business. Answered the call when Morphies shot to the front at the start of the third term and took the game right away from them. Reminded me a lot of 2008.
Was the dismal result at the Valley just a case of a very bad day ? (If not, how good are the Valley ?)
Matt Reavill was back for this one, and he really turned it on. Utterly monstered the Emus in the third term in particular.
My actual thoughts lean towards a Brighton/Valley playoff, but after yesterday I'm tipping Cove to at least make the Prelims and wouldn't be surprised at all if they reach the Grandy or even take it out.

Heard an interesting rumour on the weekend that Marion FC knocked a College (4 teams across years 8-12) back last week to have home games played at their grounds when their A/B grade playing away. Obviously not keen to promote their club & facilities. I guess their junior & recruitment programmes must be very strong behind the scenes....

I very much doubt the football section of the club would do this. Dont forget, its MARION SPORTS CLUB, so i wouldnt be surprised if the hierarchy of the SPORTS CLUB have made the call

It would not be Marion Football Club's decision, it would be the decision of the Marion Sports & Community Clubs board, so therefore it has nothing to do with them. Just another chance for the same clubs to take cheap shots at the junior situation down our way.
Give us 2 bloody divisions. Let the power clubs bash sh!t out of each other, and the likes of M/Parks & Marion will rebuild and come back stronger.
The constant sniping from others about our lack of juniors is a slap in the face to all the hard working parents and volunteers busting a gut trying to build a junior foundation at our clubs.
Mphy Parks have U/8's, 10's 12's 14's & 16's. Our 16's knocked off Brighton 2 weeks ago who had not lost for 2 seasons. Hopefully that builds into 18's very soon, plus we have healthy numbers at Auskick as well.
I respect all those clubs with strong juniors, but for frigs sake, shut up already.

Moe your comments are possibly the best I have seen in this forum in a long time.

The argument of the clubs sitting 7-10 being dis-advantaged is rubbish. What would you rather as a member of a club 1) barely scraping in to the finals and getting smashed by 15 goals in an elimination final again or 2) having a shot @ playing in a grand final and building confidence to take the next step.....
Keep in mind senior success is also a large draw card to juniors @ your club. Having the 2 divisions makes ALL clubs more appealing. I just can't understand why the league has not fixed this as it has been a serious issue for a very long time!!
Can you bring a man to his feet when defeat is on repeat?

If you are insinuating that Morphy Parks pay their juniors, it is the most preposturous comment I have heard from ANYONE on this forum. I suggest you NEVER add to your 50 posts thus far, put your head in the sand and leave it there.

Was a sports club decision, worried there might be too much traffic on the oval  the footy club is not real happy about it.

The sporting club has no idea what a great opportunity for marion footy club. They still wouldn't have half the traffic on the oval as the bigger clubs
