umpires vs central

Postby rubbers0ul » Wed Apr 25, 2007 6:07 pm

week in week out we get murdered by the umps.

in the 3rd quarter 3 eagles players throw the ball when they had their arms pinned in succession inside central 50 - no free to central

passador takes 2 dives and gets 2 frees = 2 goals

all day we have been crucified; gowans x2 are justified in letting it rip at the umps

thank god we are winning this time!

what a load of rubbish

I noticed one of the Gowans tackle an Eagle, get a holding the ball free and then he felt the need to give the Eag a jab in the back.. he only got a talking to from the ump when he could have easily paid a free the other way.

who cares, as long as we keep playing like that we will take the umpires out of the equation and any bad decisions wont affect the result

as a neutral observer the umpires were fine, but i ask this of you central people when gowans gave away the 75 metre penalty why wasn't he dragged ? i'm sure if he did that in a close game he would've been dragged, or is it because of his name ? i'd bet if 'delta' did it in his first game he would've been taken off, but back to the main point the umpiring was fine & a lot better than at glenelg last week (& glenelg got the ride) take your rose colored glasses off & look at the game objectively
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

I guess you could be mad for the umpires not making it a 100 point win.

But would he have done it if it was a close game?

im sorry i cant afford a car or the fact there was no public transport.

gowans gave away a free in the 1st place because an weagles player ducked, putting his head down, and ran into him. gowans had his hands up in the air and didnt initiate any contact yet gave away a free.

then there was the footage on tv where gowans was giving passdor lip, passador proceeded to put gowans in a head lock yet recieved a free and had a shot on goal?....

Really?

Fine as in they didn't favour either team or fine as in the game was umpired well?

I don't think any team got any advantage out of the umpires today, but I thought it was the worst umpiring display I have ever seen. The new AFL type style of umpiring is terrible for the game. Not only are the new rules terrible - but the interpretation by the umpires was also inconsistent. The game was over umpired.

Interestingly, the question in the "ask the captains" section in the Budget was about what rule could they change. 6 or 7 out of 9 said about the hands in the back, another said about holding the ball and another said the game was being over umpired.

Please umpires and the SANFL, listen to the players, coaches and the supporters and get back to the umpiring style you usually use in the finals where the game flows and you earn a free kick. We don't have to copy the AFL in every aspect do we?

The standard of umpiring in the SANFL has been 1000 times worse than the AFL for many years.
