No doubt the lads would have lifted on the back of a big 5 goal effort. He can retire now, he'll never top that.

Maybe a surprise selection in the association team, pinch hitting in the forward pocket!

The side looks very thin tommorow. Looks as though none of the MPFC senior boys have put their hand up and Matt Parker's hamstring hasn't come up  along with the previously mentioned players who think they have the right to choose what games they will play. .
I wouldnt be suprised if GFFL get within 5 goals of our Second 21. Hardly worth making the trip  . Again a poor response to rep footy, I thought we were over that!!!!

Does PL footy really need the Tigers, after last years efforts I'd say no. It's a bye anyway, might as well just call the day off and go fishing!![/quote]

Cu, I understand mortlock being a requirement, but this is a nothing scratch match. Poor form to hammer guys for not playing in it.

Nothing but a scratch match  . That may be the case to you but we dont see it this way. All the players that have pulled out for no genuine reason should hang their heads in shame and be banned from Mortlock selection.

If thats the case then maybe the PLFL need to make a stand and not select them
for Mortlock.
The problem is times have changed and all clubs have to deal with the same issues
many players now head off on holidays mid year, get married, go and see a concert etcetc
which years ago was unheard of.

CU Why would someone play at 50 percent this weekend and risk putting themselves on the pine for 4-6 weeks? Wouldn't it be better to give a young lad a crack to see if they are up to it ?

Looking at the PL side - it's certainly not "the strongest" PL side Ive seen - but there are plenty of new guys and some young guys, keen to play for PL. It gives these guys an massive oppty to showcase against GF.

To be honest we've seen Goodwin, Keatley, Semmler, Harry Miller, Parker, Cragg-Sapsford, Kemp, White - and the best they bring, at Club, Interleague and State Country level.

There are always positives fellas - and that is that we DO get to see... Frick, the Seal boys, Z Kay, Francis, Q Ware, D George, D Jefferies, D Mont (back after the broken leg), B McCurry, Del Miller, Frost, B Traeger, A Dunn.... at Interleague level, representing PL, that is the exciting prospect!

An oppty for these guys to challenge themselves against GF (who are missing some stars as well) - the future is in the guys I've listed above, the new group to represent our League.

Why cant we be excited by watching the emergence of the next group - enjoy the game, watch the new players, under a new coach - OR sit at home and wallow in your own self importance..... that decision is up to you!

While you are all keen on painting a pretty positive picture that depicts youth and other players getting a chance. Lets look at it seriously.
We are sending up players that do not deserve to get a game in Port Lincolns best 21 and some never will be, Its as simple as that. They are clearly not in our best 21. We had a chance here to bury GFFL on their own dung hill and now we will probably only win by 5 goals because we have become complacent and prepaired to send up second tier players due to senior players showing total lack of commitment. It will be my submission at the next meeting that all players that pulled out get suspended like mentioned in previous years. This has become a joke the amount of players that have pulled out. I will also be talking to Mortlock selectors and can assure you we have not heard the last of this

You do that CU and we'll see what influence you have.... and at the same time take a scotch and a serapax to calm down.

The pretty picture I paint is one around the development of our second tier players, our younger players for the next years to come. I do however, apologise, if thats not on your agenda - and your only aim is to "bury GF on their own dung hill". I think last years Centenary game and the previous 3 Mortlocks can testify to that....

Give the kids a crack, let them make some mistakes, enjoy their excitment - but most of all teach and devlop them into better footballers - that's certainly my aim....

If its a pi#$ing competition you want - congrats you won!
