Great contest up at houghton yesterday, whole team finally put out a performance we can be proud of. Unfortunately fell short by 15pts or thereabouts, but certainly a long way from the 100pt prediction  . Neck and neck to the final minutes, never satisfied with a loss but if we can produce that brand of football on a weekly basis the rest will take care of itself. Just do not need anymore bloody injuries :(

In this day and age of Club umpire bashing, I think Lockley's have some good ones on board. Obviously older blokes who have played the game before. Got a very young squad Lockleys, was very hard to find a guy over 30 in any of their 3 grades. No doubt they'll improve. Look forward to the return leg triple header at their deck.

McNiel hurt his knee early and wasn't seen again. Rayner was good at the stoppages but had his influence slightly curbed by a tag, twisted his ankle during the last quarter and was iced up. Stubberfield very well held by Matty Newton. Ahmed was very influential. Clifford didn't get much of it in defence, but went forward in the last and kicked a couple of important goals. Overall, they are a good side, but certainly not the invincibles they were talked up to be and aren't a patch on Kenilworth of last year.

Lowlight for the day was having to hear their players and supporters abuse one of players who was being stretchered off, but I guess you get get that sometimes :?

Big thanks to Brett Leonard and all the Lockleys lads who came into the clubrooms after the game for a few beers was really great to see. I must apologise for all our feral Port supporters who were cheering & yelling at the TV watching the end of the Power game though lol :D

"The Lockleys Mullet" was in action last week at Kingswood Oval, still a better performance than those that blow the whistle in D4 week in week out and truly one of Life's Gentleman.

They don't mak'em like that anymore ;)

Good to hear some other clubs have good ones.

As for bad, saw the very worst possible in D6R at Rowe Park yesterday.

Did not quite make the difference between winning and losing, but the Trinity club umpire is a deadset %&@(^!& CHEAT. To hear that their coach hates him and so does the club as a whole, it amazes me how he can CHEAT so obviously one-sidedly. There would have been at least a dozen frees he paid which went 'the wrong way'.

And then the final straw - in a game which was very tight in the last 1/4 and Ingle Farm on a bit of a roll, Trinity got a quick break from our forward line and raced it down to score a goal. The goalkicker, being a real hero, then ran at, and charged our full back as the ball was on it's way back to the middle. What did the little CHEAT do? - awarded Trinity another shot at goal !!!

To hear from Trinity themselves that other clubs have said the same thing, we have to get rid of this CHEAT.

Report will be lodged with SAAFL tomorrow asking for his removal from the position.

Sounds like sour grapes xrunner, didnt you go down by 10 goals, one free kick wont win you a game. People in glass houses shouldn't be throwing stones mate :-@

Houghton have had a tough fixture so far, and are a much better team at home. I'm not saying they'll win, I don't know either team terribly well, but I don't think the margin will be that big.

They've lost by 100 & 90 points the last 2 weeks and are now playing the supposed best team in the comp, even with it being at home I don't reckon the writer will be too far off the mark!

Thankyou

Now I didn't see the incident in the last quarter that you are referring to so I can't comment on that but what I can say is that we have not been over pleased with him this season due to the lack of free kicks he gives us. He has had a reputation of favouring the opposition and giving us bugger all because he doesn't want to be seen as biased.

Normally I don't get involved in discussions about umpires but what about in the second quarter when our player was shepherding the ball through our goals and got king hit from behind by your full back, knocked out, stretchered off in front of YOUR umpire and then taken to hospital and not even a free kick was given.

I guess what I'm saying is that there are a lot of umpires at B Grade level that aren't consistent with their decisions which frustrates the hell out of players, coaches and supporters but at most clubs there aren't exactly a lot of people lining up for the job. Unfortunately, in most cases, they are the best people that each club can find and rarely do their poor decisions directly influence the final outcome of a game. In almost all cases, if your team is good enough and play well enough, they will win regardless of how good, bad or indifferent the umpires are. All IMO of course.

Was told it was just a matter of time before this bloke did something like that! I thought there was no incidents to speak off yesterday according to the Ingle Farm posters.
Then again I guess a king hit knock out punch is just part of the game!

Tosser i think the point you make about umpiring, 'in almost all cases, if your team is good enough and play well enough, they will win regardless of how good, bad or indifferent the umpires are" is spot on.

having umpired a and b grade footy over the last few years i can say it is not easy to pick out all the frees. you cop a fair bit from the opposition which is distracting and has to impact decision making. i believe CLG had a first time b grade ump yesterday and while he was not the best he didn't pay frees either way. did he impact the result, no. did he cheat, no. did he frustrate players, officials and spectators, yes to varying degrees. but without him sticking his hand up there is a problem getting the game going.

in defence of the IF b grade ump, maybe he didn't see what happened close enough to know exactly what took place. last year i saw what i thought was a head butt as i turned to look behind the play. one of our blokes and an opposition played had been at each other since the start of the game. in the end i didn't see what others claim they saw on the sideline but i couldn't send this guy for what i thought he did. i was criticised by the player and his father for not red carding the opposition player.
