I heard on that a former afl player and recent retired sanfl glenelg player was spotted at brighton training during the week. Would be a nice pick up to an already strong team.

It was Ben Squire from HVFC that was knocked out. Apparently he is out of hospital and doing OK, so must have just been a severe concussion after a KO. Gun player, so hope to see him back for Valley soon.

Would be a very good pick up if it's true, have spoken to a couple of brighton players recently and it wasn't mentioned at all. If he was to play for the bombers this yr though it would make it one ex AFL and two ex SANFL players to still come into the team at somestage??

100 goals is a great achievement in any league but with the inconsistency of competition in our league from week to week, should 115-120 be the benchmark?
For instance, Smith from Flaggies has kicked 52 in total against the muppets in Hackham, Aldinga and Christies but only 8 in total against the top 8 sides in Shoes, Valley's and M/Park........ Like i said it will never be easy kicking 100 in a season.
Interested in others thoughts.......

True, but the Shoes and Valleys games were hardly shootouts (10 goals to 8 v Valleys and 7 goals to 6 v Shoes).

How many did Golding kick against the 'muppets' (poor choice of words reflective one) when he got his ton?

A hundred is a hundred the record books will always reflect a hundred.

That said, 50 goals to 3 is hardly a shootout it is a training run.. 10 goals to 8, 20 to 18 is what we should be aiming for every week, good competitive footy where every kick and goal is well earned.

What is going down at aldinga last year they seemed to be back on track getting 6 or 7 wins and now they find themselves back to where they were 4 years ago obviously the new recruits and coach arent as good as the ones that left...
who ever thought of the saying winning isn't everything, probably lost!!

Funny how rumours get around - from what I hear big squizza wasnt knocked out at all just landed on his head and ambulance was just being on the safe side

This rule has got to be looked at though - game delayed by 31 minutes or 28 minutes depending on which clock you go on apparently

Leaves Valley with 1 point less that they would have got plus a massive percentage (they were up by 15 goals at the first break and Lonsdale yet to score) and squiz went down just after this - why not just call it half time and restart the game?

Enjoy your 1 point Lonsdale - hope your blokes were enjoying the beers whilst our lads kept training

Sounds like the incident was handled in a professional manner. Would rather be on the safe side than risk permanent injuries to a player.

The rules are there for the safety of the injured player as well as the remaining players if the game was to continue. A half hour delay means that the last qtr will be played in very dim light, especially on an overcast day. I think you'll find Lonsdale had the same thing happen to them against Hackham last year. Difference is they didn't bitch and moan about not playing on, even though it was a milestone game for one of their club champions.

My thoughts exactly vics.
Sorry LGIL - I shouldnt have really included Christies as Muppets, you guys have started the year really competitive and should give the top 8 a real shake.

It is an interesting one that's for sure.
100 goals in a season is a huge effort no matter what league or era.
I can see both sides of the discussion though.
On one hand a few big tallies against the easier opposition does make the ton seem "easier" to get but not many players have Got it so it can't but that easy.
Look back through history even at the two forwards in the SFL team of all time, both Taylor and Pollard kicked big bags against the lesser sides. Even back in the late 70 early 80 there used to be blow out scores.

I guess in our league you just have to look at whether the forwards can also kick big bags in games against the better sides in big games and also if they do it year in year out.

It maybe hard to take when your team is 84 points up, but IMO Player welfare has to come first
