Funny how rumours get around - from what I hear big squizza wasnt knocked out at all just landed on his head and ambulance was just being on the safe side
This rule has got to be looked at though - game delayed by 31 minutes or 28 minutes depending on which clock you go on apparently
Leaves Valley with 1 point less that they would have got plus a massive percentage (they were up by 15 goals at the first break and Lonsdale yet to score) and squiz went down just after this - why not just call it half time and restart the game?
Enjoy your 1 point Lonsdale - hope your blokes were enjoying the beers whilst our lads kept training
Sounds like you heard it second hand from some really annoyed vikings. I was 40 metres away and he didn't move for a few minutes only his arms and fingers which tensed up as they do when someone is knocked out sometimes. Trainers and umpires did as they were supposed to. Our lights aren't bright enough to play in the dark which the last quarter would have been played in. It happened in our game against Hackham last year but we didn't whinge like you lot. With about 20 acres of free space to train on it was nice of you blokes to train right where our kids were kicking the footy at the goals right in front of the clubrooms, class act. Just like when you trained at half time because you thought you were going to flog us a few years ago and then ran laps after the game knocking over 5 year old kids and hurting them and just kept running . But I guess player welfare isn't big at your club. Just ego boosting wins against teams you should not even be playing against.
Ok mate we are going to have to agree to disagree on a few things here - have looked into what you have said and Squiz wasnt knocked out so how about getting your facts right about our
players welfare before you put in print
Yeah our blokes used your oval to train - it was meant to be used for a footy game correct me if I am wrong there and the lads moved from the main oval to the western side of the ground in front of your pathetic away change rooms - we made room for your players to train also but think they were already having a coldie - it was probably their kids who were kicking the footy
You mention ego boosting wins - sorry but we are no different to any other club in the top 8 playing you and wanting to get a sweet percentage boost out of the game
Your right we shouldnt be playing you and the SFL need to get the div 2 thing happening sooner rather than later
Let me get this right mister footy, you are having a go at lonsdale about a rule that has been in place to protect the safety of the players for a lot of years, and been used a number of times.
If i hear correctly then it is the teams higher on the ladder that are dragging there feet about appointing someone to the committee for two divisions, so maybe stop whinging and get it organised.
Also the game is still mainly about sportmanship and mateship, so for half the valley team to just walk off and not shake hands after the game, for the valley coach to have a go at the lonsdale coach about a decision that was made by the umpires as per a league rule, Not one valley player or official coming in for a beer after the match. But this does not surprise me as you guys didnt purchase any drinks from the clubrooms all day and just brought your own alcohol in.
That is what i would say is poor form. Not a club accepting a rule that has been in place for years.[/quote]
It is amazing what one remembers from Saturday. I actually travelled to Lion Park on Saturday, my first away game with the Vikings.
To say the day was a disappointment is an understatement. There seemed to be a lot of confusement and then a real let down when the game was called off.
As for no Vikings spending any money in the bar, this does surprise me. I weigh over a hungy kilos, was drinking TEDs out of a can, which you rarely see, and even bought a Lions stubbie holder, while decked out in Vikings gear. Had a good steak sandwich with the lot, was probably going to have another one after half time. Had about four or five cans by the time the Decision came in, so probably would have had another four or five if the game hadn't finished so early.
As someone who is rather new to the league, the sad part for me was that all the players were staying warm, training and having a kick. So when the ambo left with Squizzy, I assumed that after waiting this long the game would get underway!! Instead players shook hands and off we go. I paid to watch a footy game.
