Gums are going to be looking to bounce back using intimidation to get a win over what seems to be an under fire Birdwood. Hard to see Birdwood not learning a thing from their past two outings and will be desperate to ensure it's not three in a row. If available the Roosters need to play men and not boys, not the week for 'blooding' youngsters.
Birdies in a close one - 1-10pts

Maccy by 5-10 goal over Kangy

Meadows and Nairne in a canter.

Game of the round could be anybody's. Looking at the scores from previous rounds the Demons might have too much fire power but it will be interesting to see if their untried back six can hold up against some quality opposition.
Draw

Not sure about an untried back six. From last weeks team sheet i can see:
Maslin, Liston, Snell, Edmonds all playing.
Munn and Threadgold are the two missing from last years premiership side but they have been replaced by Carey and Coop.
Fairly solid back six i would think!!!!
Then trow Edwards, Bevelander and Guy rotating back there, dont think you could build a better back half using players from any other country div club.

I think he means untried as in "unchallenged" this year so far. I don't think he he saying inexperienced.

If so, Anthony would have access to no better advisor, mentor and student of the game than SJ.

Don't write the "Impact Coach" off just yet there 'The Duke' as he may be dusting off the ol magnet board for one last crack at the big time.

C'mon duke the footy has just finished. Go to bed and dream about getting a kick tomorrow. The impact umpire is already in bed due to his early start. Mad dog has dropped him due to being mentioned more times than him in the media.

I watched the Impact umpire today (in purgatory) and thought he did a reasonable job, and didn't try to overawe the youngster he was with (who did very well)and indeed helped him. But he still has to make his mark, on one free kick close to goal to the perennial stager against a veteran defender.

He just had to be bigger than the game to make it close. :(

The decision was WRONG and clearly he then realised this as the Captain questioned him at half time, by his body language, that all could see. Then some typical "bad umpire" square ups at the start of the third? then back on even keel.

Do not listen to the Umpires Coach Termi good umpires should not be seen.

PS... I have liked all your other games as umpire that I have seen. Please do not move back to coaching though as you really embarrass your club during the game, perhaps through passion.

From my vantage point on the 'Grassy knoll', I also saw the 'Impact umpires' performance and overall he did a good job especially with reminding players to not back chat a green shirt umpire.

Fair enough on your comments about poor decisions and evener uppers, you are entitled to make these as that can at times be footy.

Comments of behaviour towards the impact umpire are a bit rich as I recall some of the player, coach and crowd behaviour displayed from your club on occasions over the last few years (especially last years 2nd Semi) has been very poor.

Would pay good money to watch the "Impact Umpire" in full flight and at the height of his game. Hope SJ doesn't put "Mad Dog Taylors" nose out of place.

Yes, good to hear he is ok. Was a spectacular clash of bodies. The two lads were both going flat out in front of the clubrooms at the ball. Great courage shown by both of them.

Seems a bit quiet on the Hills Country front boys. Hope it's okay to mention 'C' Grade doings then. Milang Panthers have been very impressive of late and recently defeated Onkas 'C's by 14 goals. All clubs playing 'C's this year are Hills Central clubs apart from Milang, who are in neither division and a small town of local players. This comp is proving to be very competitive indeed with the odd sheep station and good crowds every week. Seems to me a perfect time for the HFL to be gathering data towards a 3 Div Comp.
Players win awards. Teams win games. Clubs win Premierships.

On the back of a solid performance last saturday, "Impact Umpire" has been rushed back into A grade ranks for one his biggest fan clubs. Pretty impressive effort after a lengthy delay on the sidelines !

I'm probably going to get ridiculed a little for this one.. but looking at the weather, and talking to a few people from various clubs, I think there maybe a few upsets this weekend.

United Eagles to have their first win against Kangarilla
Gums to dish out a first loss to Echunga
and Sedan to push Kersbrook right to the wire :?

See how far I am off the mark on Monday Morning.

Not a good look for HFL Country Division yesterday. Average winning margin was 158 points, with all five losing sides managing to kick six goals or less. In the B's, all five losing sides kicked three goals or less with two managing none at all. If there was ever a right time to gather data supporting a 3 Div. comp, yesterday was it.
Older, wiser and been there. But still love that grassroots country footy.
