I've only heard it second hand but apparently the Brighton player got off
I was at the SA v WA State game so I only heard from Flagstaff supporters their account of what happened when I got up to the club. But from these versions of what happened, I definately wasn't expecting this result from tribunal

WOW! :-?
The SFL do it again.. so a player ends up in hospital after being knocked out, and the culprit gets off scot free??
surely the falcons will appeal this decision..
maybe Brighton have some good lawyers as sponsors..

From what I hear, if this is true then it is a blight on the SFL ! I didn't see the incident as I was behind the bar (not in front of it for a change), but from what I heard - from Brighton people as well as Flaggies - it was pretty bad. The guy came from a distance and hit the guy from behind IN FRONT OF THE UMPIRE. He got Red carded, the Flaggy guy went to hospital, you'd think it was a no-brainer that there'd be SOME penalty ! And I thought that the SFL was trying to get tough this year - they've brought in mandatory penalties for offences including striking I believe ?????

The flaggy bloke had X rays and a CT scan done too. Apparently didnt get the all clear until close to midnight, when he should have been celebrating a landmark victory.

Unbelievable considering one of our guys copped 8 weeks for striking a little time back. At least the bloke he allegedly whacked was face to face.

Gutless act. Havent seen a team go the old fashioned knuckle when getting a thumping for some time. I guess its been a long time since Brighton found themselves 10 goals down at 3/4 time.

Type of stuff I'm sure most at the Bombers would want to distance themselves from.

I thought a red card was an auto suspension for starters? SFL have set precedence that a king hit from behind in front of the umpire is OK, just dont wear the wrong shorts. Hopeless.

I didnt see the incident, only a picture of the guy in a hospital bed. So feel free to fill in any blanks.

Brighton player hits player from behind hard enough to send him to hospital?
Umpire gives brighton player red card confirming he saw it and has been reported?
Player escapes suspension at tribunal (cleared or reprimand??)

In the last couple of years the tribunal has had no hesistation in suspending players for contact to the head. In fact in most cases, it seemed their mind was made up before the case was even heard. This makes this result even more ridiculous. Surely someone has made a mistake, because if it has happened the way i have read, then this is the weakest, most disgusting decision by the SFL since they decided maroon was a good footy colour.

I wouldn't be too worried about some random's comments on a forum, Panther. Probably still p*ssed off that you tore Brighton a new one in the GF the other year and is trying to make himself feel better by picking on your weird, balding, spiky hairstyle and other things from behind his monitor. People wouldn't know just how well you fit in at RFC during your three years there unless they were actually part of the club themselves during that time. It will be good to have you back ;)

Flaggies posters should stop thinking their club is always the victim. Now that you're winning games against the big boys it's time to grow up. The Brighton player in question got a fair hearing and got 2 matches. This is another reason why the SFL should publish all tribunal outcomes every Wednesday.

Saying that any of the top 6 probably think there best is better than the rest so it's going to be a good finish.

Maybe there is more to the Shoes than just "Kick It Long To Golding" after all......
Used 28 players through the A Grade this year, with 21 getting on the score sheet. Seem to be finding other avenues to goal.
Still think it is too early to be labelling favourites, no one cares about May / June..... Wait until August / September.... As you said BF, the top 6 are very even.

Good to see the shoes looking at other avenue's for goal, will just be a bonus when the big man returns. Looked like shoes continued recruiting, were there a few new faces out on the park on the weekend?

Yes Note Book - one new face out for the shoes on the weekend, fitted into the side nicely.
Shoes played with 4 points out of 12 on the weekend so plenty of room for more ;)

Hardly always the victim DTH. Far from it.

My comments were based on word of him getting off DTH. If he indeed got 2 weeks then at least it has been dealt with. We can all argue about the penalty and whether it fits the crime.

Totally agree with the tribunal results being published too- good point!

So now we knocked you off we should expect more meat-axes/snipers to slug blokes when they arent looking?

Every team has the odd sniper moment, including yours. No excuse for what he did and personally think he was lucky to get only 2 weeks, but don't give the Falcons are holier than thou speech.

Fair effort then to win.
Just noticed Brighton play Happy Valley on the 22nd of June on a Friday night, is that the launch of the new lights down there or did I miss that?
Should be a cracker game and it's great for them to put it on a Friday night so other teams can come and watch it!
I think it's a good concept for teams to play on other times and days than just saturday arvo's to bring in better crowds.
