Mids “officially” retired in typical low key fashion after the Morphie Park loss two weeks ago.
Work and family commitments have become too much to juggle despite being in
Fantastic form.

Mids will be remember as one of the Reynella all time greats
Some of Mids achievements
- Dual Best & Fairest Winner
- 2nd All Time in A grade Games Played 230 games
- 2005 Mail Medal Winner
- 5 Junior Premierships (I think)
- 2010 Premiership Player
- Proven Big Game player

The boys will certainly miss his helicopter kicks, screaming voice and 30 possession each week.

There was no one a bigger critic of his game than himself, a true competitor.

Well Done Mids you should be proud. =D>

Congrats on a great career, SFL will be the poorer for his retirement. Very tough opponent and his opposition always knew they had played a game after coming up against him and the Reynella boys. Cheers for the future.

On another topic, who is the real flag favourite for this year. My rankings would be:

1. Happy Valley, just keep finding a way to win with only one loss and a draw due to injury time expiring.
2. Brighton, going along OK, but have had too many hiccups for my liking, very inconsistent
3. Port Noarlunga, beat Valley and seem to have improved massively this year.
4. Morphett Vale, can never be written off. Crushed by Valley then smash Flaggies in a show of defiance.
5. Noarlunga, always dangerous although accounted for by Porties.
6. Morphettville Park, have some class in their side and took it up to Valleys
7. Flagstaff, still not sold on their gameplan or their depth, yet they dismantled the Bombers easily...

Can't find a favourites spot for Reynella this year while they rebuild, Cove are flat track bullies and Townies not there yet

Not writing them off, just going on form lines currently. I'm sure we'll be around the mark come finals, but have been impressed with a couple of games I have seen Valleys play and from reports I am getting from a few in the know up there.

I guess the big Friday night clash on June 22nd should give us some idea of how we stack up against them. Bombers have let themselves down a few times this year and not competed as hard as I would expect. Hoping we can shake off any hangover that may be there from last year.

In all honesty, this would be one of the harder years to predict as there are some genuine chances coming from teams further down the ladder.

So when is nathen eagleton going to play his first game. I see his clearance is still pending. Adding him into the team I would think that might make happy valley favorites for the flag.

How good will it be with the three Eagleton boys out there. Hopefully Damien, brother number four, will be there next year as well.

Word on the street was that the brothers wanted to play together again before Michael retired but with the form he has been in this year you'd be hoping thoughts of retirement are gone. Super bloke too

Would love to see him running around in the SFL, just hoping the clearance is still pending on June 22nd ;)

Great to hopefully see a former Valley junior back at his own club rather than chasing bucks elsewhere. He'll also be a zero pointer. Will certainly help them towards the finals and adds strength to what is already a very, very good midfield.

If he can shake the hard tag, which made him ineffective at SANFL level

Good work LGIL, some good names there along with some ive never heard of but seems to be alot missing that would easily make the best team IMO . Possibly some with injuries but does anyone really take this seriously?? I mean do players really even want to compete In this game? Just seems that come association time there never seems to be the best sfl players available or fit ? are players finding any excuse not to be involved? Or is it just the selections being made by the SFL cause i have heard of a couple of players being selected that havent even put the boots on this year  Good luck to the boys that do play this wkend wouldn't think they'll get much support from the SFL supporters being played at strath but hopethey cam put-on a good competitive show and come away with a win.

Spot on Barry. Must be a few injuries. I know MV have a lot but cant talk for other clubs. Seems to be a few players in the squad on reputation, not form. Some aged legs also there, so maybe hoping their smarts will help them around the big ground. Help me out because i dont know a lot of these players, but what would be Comers role? He hasnt kicked a goal for Noarlunga all year and would obviously be behind Trev in the pecking order for the ruck. Is there another ruckman in that side?? Who is the coach this year? Spoke to someone on the weekend from Great Southern who thinks their side is one of the Strongest they have had in years. They are also very happy with the match up they have set aside for Rigney. Going to be very quick apparently as they think pace is an area that southern normally has an edge.
Hope im wrong, but i think we might be in a little trouble. Great Sthn by about 40 points.

I think Valleys have plenty of hardnuts who can help clear a path for him. With less officious umpiring, I'd expect any tagger to be given a solid workover.

Doesn't look like there are any other rucks so i'm assuming Comer's role would be back up to Cranston.
Bode and Brookman would be my other picks, so i'm guessing they were both unavailable.
Who else would you add to that side if you could?
Golding? Northsworthy? Nathan Peterson-Gray? Manhood? Bayly? Adam Ridley??
The only time i've ever been wrong...was when I thought I was wrong!!!

I think the players would be happy to represent a league that represents them, currently that is not happening and outside of the SFL we are a laughing stock. This is no fault of the players/clubs with 90% being able to see that 2 Divs is the way but of course our league "representatives" know what's best. I mean it was their idea to go to 1 Div after all...

And another note, a player was suspended recently for striking a player behind the play and received 2 games. This is also the penalty if you choose not to play association. For the SFL to think that comparison of offence is fair is a joke in itself.
