The big 4 get stronger, and the closest group of challengers just give up their best players.

I can see why a lot of you blokes support CCC sides. The EPL is a frustrating commercial venture. It's like Woolies opening up accross the road from the local corner store (if anyone can actually remember what one of those is).

If Spurs sell Dimi, I will be pissed!

I support a 2nd Division side because I have done for over 30 years.

Tottenham likes to think it is a big club (and it is in many ways), but these days it is just another selling club a la Fulham and the like.

The trouble with foreigners is that they see any EPL club outside the big 4 as a means to getting to a Champions League club, although who could blame Berbatov for making the move. Hasn't Chimbonda "done well". Wigan to Tottenham to Sevilla. He is quoted as having called Wigan a "stepping stone".

CCC Result Monday 23rd April

Postby johntheclaret » Tue Apr 24, 2007 8:51 am

Burnley 3 - 2 WBA Just got back from the game. Burnley 2 - 0 down after 8 minutes. Brilliant stuff. Was live on sky too so the rest of England got a chance to see the clarets. To be fair WBA down to 10 men for the 2nd half, but can't take anything away for Burnley.

Birmingham, Cardiff, and now WBA all fallen to the clarets. Bring on Sunderland on Friday night adn'The Staduim of Light  ' Sounded better when they played at Roker Park.

Taped it and now watching the vcr. Loved this game. 2 - 0 down after 8 mins. Read the score Burnley 3 (three) - 2 WBA. Woohoo :D :D :D

Berbatov has been great for Spurs with little support at times. I can see why he'd want to go to MU though.

Chimbonda has been mediocre in the few games I've seen. No issues with him going to Sevilla provided they fork out a BIG transfer fee!

CL Result 24th April

Postby johntheclaret » Wed Apr 25, 2007 7:27 am

Man U 3 - 2 Milan

Man U back four, missing Ferdinand and Vidic, looked all over the place in the 1st half, with Kaka scoring twice to give Milan 2 -1 lead in reply to Ronaldo's opener after 5 mins.
2nd half Man U played much better and Shrek sealed win with a 1st on 59 mins and a 2nd, 1 min into added time.

Milan must still fancy their chances with two away goals.

Don't know if any of you guys managed to catch this game.

I got up and watched it and glad I did, what a fantastic game. A great comeback by United with Rooney the star in the second half, he showed an impressive workrate and two great finishes but the service was also good.. Scholes' flick and Giggs' great run and pass were world class. The late winner gives United a chance at the San Siro but it will be very tough, far from impossible though.

I got up and watched the first 58 mins before heading to the dawn service.

When I got home and saw the highlights, I couldn't believe my eyes. Although I can't stand him, Shrek is a gun. It was only a matter of time until the gates opened for him again.

Gatusso going off must have really hurt Milan at the back. They should have bought on Zjelko and it would have been Roma all over again!

CANT WAIT for tonights game. I sooooo hope the Pool beat those Chelscum wankers!

Well they have to actually SCORE aganist us first, but then again i guess they could always cheat like they did last time we meet in this comp. yeah peter reaid jr played alright for man u last night but i think milan's 2 away goal well help them make it through.
The problem with Barcelona is that I like fish and chips but they had to turn it into calamari and patatas

CL Update 25th April

Postby johntheclaret » Thu Apr 26, 2007 6:01 am

Latest score

Chelski 1 - 0 Liverpool

Pool just not in it yet. Drogba trying to swap shirts at every opportunity.

Joe Cole scorer from good work by Drogba. Near misses from Shevchenko and Lampard. Chelski on top and look the likeliest to score.

Revised

Final Score

Chelski 1 - 0 Liverpool

Pool played much much better in the 2nd half and created some good chances. Joe Cole is a disgrace, diving again. . Don't think Liverpool will be too unhappy with the result. Long time since they've won at the bridge so to go down by just one gives them a real chance back at Anfield. Bellamy went off early in 2nd half and was pretty ineffectual tonight. Played to central for my liking, and would prefer him to be coming in from the left.
As usual, Lampard and Drogba spent most of the night lambasting the ref

Not the worst of results for Liverpool, but I think it will be enough to se Chelsea through ... I can't see the Reds scoring more than 2 at Anfield and also can't see them keeping a clean sheet against this Chelsea outfit.

I know we beat them 2-zip a month or two back, but Chelsea looked pretty lacklustre that day and that certainly won't be the case when playing for a spot in the CL final.

Just BTW Johnnyboy, I gotta question why Mourinho is held in such massive esteem over there ... I appreciate he has taken Chelsea to two premierships, but to my mind, anyone who thinks Mourinho has been more of a contributor to their success than Abramovich is kidding themselves ... Chris Coleman could have managed the Chelsea teams of the past two seasons to titles IMHO.

Return leg at the San Siro will be the fascinating fixture I reckon, which way you leaning??

Both second legs are going to be very interesting games, I'd back Chelsea to go through at this stage and AC Milan look the goods over Man Utd unfortunately due to the two away goals but we only need a draw.

Reds no problem at all back at Anfield.

Rafa can afford to rest some players for Portsmouth this weekend, as top four is sewn up, while Chelsea have a massive game against Arsenal to stay in the title race.

They won't admit it but I feel as if Chelsea knew at the end that they needed that second goal.

Anny will be rocking Tuesday night.

Given the events of the Carling Cup final, hopefully Arsenal view this as their Grand Final and get down and dirty against Chelsea! :)

LOL Hate to say it bud, I don't really care who wins, but would happily see Wenger lay Mourinho on his "special" ass and watch the Francenal boys butcher the Chelski guys!

Latest rumor from a VERY UN-reliable Spurs chat site is that Arjen Robben may be headed to the Lane over summer to play under Jol (being a countryman) after strained relations with Moron-ho.

I'm not sure whether to be happy or pissed about that one.

Happy because he CAN be a great player.

Pissed because he dives and whines like a bitch ALL the time.

If he is signed and helps us into Europe, I will change my tune!

DA, his name should be blocked by the swear filter on this thing ... Watching him get Reina Red-Carded last year is one of the lowest individual acts in sport I've seen, I'd support Everton before I said anything decent about that pr!ck!!

He isn't revered over here CP. Not sure if he is held in high esteem at Chelski either. He gets headlines, because of Chelski, their dosh, Abramovich and the d1ckhead comments he makes, most of which are made to attract the attention in the 1st place. He makes ridiculous accusations about other managers, referees and players alike. He comes out with some controversial statements and the donkey press lap it up and give him the coverage he loves.
They call it mind games, but in reality it is just a load of old sh1t.
Very popular chant at EPL grounds goes something like F$%k off Mourinho, F$%k off Mourinho, F$%k off Mourinho, to the tune of Tar rar ra bumdiay (Speeling)

Re-the return leg, For me I think Man U will have enough in the locker. One thing for sure, they will not be intimidated at the San Siro as perhaps others would. A draw would be enough but I can't see Man U playing for one as it is not their style. Milan will have to come out to score and that could leave them vulnerable at the back with Man U breaking quickly using the pace of Ronaldo and Shrek.

If Milan do score early on, they will kill the game as a spectacle so you guys can switch off and go back to bed
