Backwell will only go where the money is, so Morphy park must have a fair bit of it!

I wonder how Morphys are going for points.

Word is next year everyone will have the same. Wonder how they will go then.

Must have a very generous benefactor down there and must have the points left or they wouldn't have bothered. I'm urging Bombers committee to make a play for Natanui, Dangerfield and Cotchin.

MORPHIE PARKS to SFL and CFB we need extra points to build our club.
Now we have them we will spend thousands and buy short term success. General you and the board have been conned. Finish in the 8 and still get extra points to recruit mercenaries great way to build from the bottom up. Before you all start no sour grapes just the reality of what was requested and the reasons why. I see that EV has made mention of Emus and Winies being outside the 8 well these guys have 6 less points than parks and are building young players with experience not buying on a rigged draw or points system. These clubs have been raped by other leagues of good players and can still be competetive I am sure when the money comes Parks won't be and will have advanced no where. Wa wa end of rant.

One Backwell does not a midfield make, just papers over a crack. On the positive, if players like Cranston, Backwell, Eagleton etc come to the SFL, it will certainly bring more people out to watch the games.

Selwood and Shuey all pay homage to Backwell for teaching them how to duck for free-kicks. Will the umps pay it in the SFL? Unlikely.

Not a bad pick up, 2006 Magarey Medalist. I'm assuming Cranston plus $$$ had a very big influence in this signing...

Spot on EV, we all have them i know but i cant remember a time at MV whereby we've had so many injuries to key personnel at one time. $hit happens and it's no form of an excuse just an observation. Another lost for the season on the weekend in a not so nice head clash. Makes this weekends game against Towns a massive clash in what is clearly a must win for the boys.

Could we possibly see that last minor round game of the year as a elimination final before finals have even started? May well look as if it is a possibility at this stage, certainly a more even comp than we have had for many years and we will have 50/50 knock out finals in the 1st week instead of having 1 sided affairs.

To one of the field umpires on Saturday :finga: You'll know who you are!

The 2 Brighton chaps on here bagging mouse. Put his playing record against yours if you have one. No doubt will be on some coin so what. It's great for your league and even better for MP

Who got up in the ruck duel of the year between Bode and Cranston? Both teams had them in their best players.

Here's what I posted word for word:

"One Backwell does not a midfield make, just papers over a crack. On the positive, if players like Cranston, Backwell, Eagleton etc come to the SFL, it will certainly bring more people out to watch the games."

How do you construe that to be bagging him. All I pointed out is that Backwell does not solve their midfield issues in totality. I then pointed out that there are positives too. There is also a fair point made about the argument that was put up to secure extra points, and this recruiting decision does not hold up to that reasoning. Good luck to MVP, these players may help to attract juniors and the like, but it is a very short term strategy, Time will tell if it works. Anything less than a premiership with two high price recruits would have to be viewed as a failure.

Don't see the relevance of my playing record in order to have an opinion, just like you don't have to put up your playing record to enhance your point of view. Again, not bagging the player at all, in fact in his situation I would do the same thing, just not sure what it actually achieves for MVP.

Observer, pretty sure Morphie parks are allowed extra points than everyone else because they are trying to rebuild a club and change the culture to people who will stick around long term and not just mercenaries for the dollar. History shows if you select players looking for big dollars, they will attract big counter offers from other clubs each year and be tempted to leave for a bigger offer. I don't know any of their recruits personally but seems like nothing has changed. Would love to see the agm profit loss sheet of just how much it costs a year to put that A grade side out there a year. Would have to be close to 100k surely

PLUS
History shows if you select players looking for big dollars (Cranston / Backwell)
DOESN'T =
stick around long term and not just mercenaries for the dollar

In my opinion, Morphie Parks are not using the "Extra Points" grant as well as they could and maybe should........ Is having 2 superstars in their side going to help them long term as per their request to the league to obtain the extra points?
