There were 2 absolute guns from KI heater who should be in. They were standouts unlike the 6 players from here I mentioned who are only battlers in comparison.

Our big man department also looks very thin. How can that Minhard get a game?

Does PL footy really need the Tigers, after last years efforts I'd say no. It's a bye anyway, might as well just call the day off and go fishing!![/quote]

Fair dinkum Coyote, when did you land from Mars, last week!!!!!!!!!
Rawson & Seal were in L/City best during Mortlock Shield & both were standouts on the Monday. Rawson played in the EP winning side last year & has had another solid year. They have to take a certain amount of U 21 players, Seal falls into that & would be right up there with any on EP in that age group.( perhaps apart from his twin)
McCurry has been a consistant player all year & deserves his shot.
The players don't pick themselves & deserve better than cheap shots from you.

EP Team to play in the SA Country Championships
LD - Malcolm Miller, Harry Miller, Wes Bilney, Matt Parker
EE - Joel Fitzgerald, Jack Kenny, Tom Davey, Dion Woolford
GF - Jordan Telfer, George Pedler, Daniel Wedd, Brad Hazelgrove, James Minhard
LC - Levi Konitzka, Paul White, John Sinclair, Dale Montgomerie, Boyd McCurry, Toby Rawson, Josh Seal, Ziek Kay, Reece Francis, David Jefferies
MW - Jake Bruce, Jay Williams, Dylan Montgomerie
FW & KI - NIL

Further to the above, I wont be commenting on this forum about the selection or non-selction of EP players, there are a number of factors that allow players to be selected, whch include availablility, desire to play (or lack of), structure and positional balance, injury, training and commitment and finally the ability (in the opinion of the selectors) for the player to play at a level above that of Mortlock. People right across the EP will have differing opinions of who should be in and who should be out - that's the nature of Football and while everyone is entitled to their opinion - this is not the place for me (as a selector) to be openly debating the pros and cons of an individuals selection. I hope that everyone representing the EP over the weekend has the full support of our region.

With all these factors you claim it is just wrong that you can be picked if you have not lived or even played a game on the EP this year before Mortlock. I have no problems if you did not play Mortlock due to injury etc. and possibly performed below your best at Mortlock but have a proven record at EP level but you will never be able to justify this inclusion and you know it. Imagine if the young lad from Tasman's got a run in the EP team, what a reward for the effort he has put into his football this year and I am sure there are other lads similar that would hold their own and just maybe exceed expectations and some doors open.....just a thought

How can you pull the 'premierships' card out kenwhelanfan when refering to a players ability? That means Nigel Burgoyne should have played EP as well does it? Plenty of duds have received a premiership medal especially in inferior leagues like great flinders. Minhards form this season has been average at best from what I have heard and mortlock he was serviceable but as I said the selectors may have been left with no choice, hence the late selection of Sinclair who didnt even make the original sqaud but got a late call up. taking 4 ruckman means they have little cconfidence in taking 2 (max 3) ruckman.
Im not making any cheap shots I am stating that there are 2 players from KI and 1 from far west that are better footballers and have shown it this season and at Mortlock that deserve a spot before the 6 players mentioned. 1 player from each league should be in the side.
If that cuts at the heart strings to much then to bad. toughen up princesses

Downey is a long way off playing EP football. But having said that Jeffries got a game so you may have a point :?

Country footy sides can carry a player or two no doubt. Guys without awesome skills can win flags and brag about it.

I haven't seen the club that won five flags carrying a dud ruckman though, CU.

So you never watched the peckers in the mid 80's/90s ? (you may have still been in nappies)
Take a drive up up the highway Saturday week and have a look for yourself.

this may help CU, having tried to coach againest ramblers the last three years and last 2 in grand finals if you ask me what bloke i would want injured from that team amongst the 8 or so guns from that team, it would be james pedler first, spida a close second. the bloke is very good when he needs to go.
also remember this boys, the selectors need to pick i think 7 under21 so there are young players getting a shot when they probably dont deserve it or are up to it but they are the rules.

From the little I have read of the Times match previews this season it sounds like Tom Wadsworth and Quade Ware are top flight interleague ruckman and should share the ruck load for EP. ;)

SOUTH AUSTRALIAN COUNTRY FOOTBALL DIGEST

The South Australian Country Football Digest will be available at the Kinlough Cup in Thevenard this weekend. The cost of the 391 page book is $40.00. As the book will only be available in the short term by mail order through my email address this is an ideal opportunity to purchase at a reduced price direct from the author.

As the book becomes more widely available I will update this page.

As for the Dunn'y brush he had Jason Burgoyne a late withdraw yet there is a pic of him playing
