Good to see Seaton not let any of last weeks bad press get to them and portland after a slow start are in the hunt for the top 5. Pretty close comp apart from top and bottom. Will anyone knock off Unley this year??

I didn't see the Luthies v HV game, but I know the C grade were very undermanned with only 1 on the bench and 4 or 5 who did play were crook. Not an excuse, as I'm sure other teams are in the same boat this time of year. Hopefully get a few back this week and take up the challenge to Unley

We (portland) seemed to be the same this weekend, we went from having a full bench against pooraka to the coach, captain and myself spending friday night ringing blokes to round up some extra players. We ended up with 2 on the bench and after a very slow start to the game finally kicked into gear after half time.

The ruckman for Pembroke is an absolute monster and beat both of our guys who are not small nor short on experience. Surely he could be playing at least B grade out at Pembroke??

It seems to sound the same with all teams last weekend. I heard from someone at Districts that they had 9 changes from the game against the Jets and that was with 5 going up to the B grade and having none filter down due to injuries. Left with only one ruckman after having three that could do the job the game before. Injuries do start to add up this time of the year but lets hope for all clubs the players start filtering back in. Will be a good second half of the year in the C2's and I recon it will be a close one between Portland and Port Districts this week.

Thats C grade footy for ya!
Unfortunately this time of year (mid season slump), you never know what a team will be like when you rock up to play them on match day.
Most teams start out with good numbers and are fairly competitive but as the season progresses injury in all grades takes its toll and the guys that were missing out at the start due to good numbers may start dissappearing.
Once it gets close to finals every man and his dog suddenly appears again and all of a sudden the guys that battled through the mid season slump and carried the team are competing for spots!
'Oh the joys of C grade!' ]
Good luck to all teams this week.

Great to see Charlie umpiring the C2 Curtain raiser at Hope Valley yesterday. The guy is a legend and a gentleman. Not many A grade coaches that give their club as much as Charlie Wintle. Well Done. 8)

Pleasure TT - The Jets Boys have been told from day one, that you just cop the decision and get to the next contest. You called it as you saw it and that is all any opposition can ask for. Just for the record I told the boys before the game who you were and that we were lucky to have you. I recon both Club umpires were good, our young lad is progressing nicely and goes pretty well unnoticed, just like all good umpires. They're at their best when you don't notice them. PS Unless their CW and that was for the right reasons. ;)

What happened with the Seaton and Pembroke game on the weekend? Didn't think Pembroke would be a team that would forfit. What happened in the other games? Good to see the weather holding out on Sat so there should have been some good footy played around the place. Saw the results and most were expected wins but Portland after a slow start (6 goals to 1) looked like they played pretty well for the last three quaters.

Was a good game at districts.
Apart from the first quarter was very even. There A grade coach killed us in the first quarter around the stoppages, helphaving 2 quality ruckman that should be playing B grade give him first use definately went a long way to them winning the game.

What do you suggest ? the B's to have 4 ruckmen, they are in the C's because that's where they're picked not where they choose to play

I went down to Districts this weekend for a look and by the looks of the Districts two ruckman they dont look big enough to be rucking in a b grade side to me. In saying that though they did struggle on the centre taps but around the ground they were great. The one with orange boots was really good looking like he took more of the rucking duties for the day and was one of the best for Districts. Walsh came back from the B grade for Seaton and must have done alright in that game getting second best. Number 15 for Districts (dont know names sorry) in the last half looked like he was an extra man on the ground. I couldnt tell if he was playing up forward or down back but he was taking marks and cleaning up all over the ground. I think in the last 5 minutes he took 4 contested marks and a couple of marks from quick kicks out of defence by seaton. With Seaton having a few players come back from the B grade you could see them help settle the side but Districts too good on the day. Was a great game to watch and looked like it was played in great spirit.
