Exactly, propose all of the solutions that you want but you better propose another viable sponsor if your solutions involve any substantial change to the way it is run now. My solution doesn't need another sponsor, just get rid of it!

From the article:
"Carlton was forced to promote Robbie Warnock immediately back into the senior team in a bid to get him a game and some match fitness"

Wonder whether we see an article from Rucci saying how well our system works with our clubs willing to co-operate with each other and to give AFL players a run if needed.

pfft Rucci.... the one who claimed that SANFL clubs used SAAFL clubs as feeder teams. SANFL reserves was in operation before the SAAFL (as the SAFA but we just dont have the records for all premiers) and NEVER would have let a SAFL player in. Relations between the two comps has only settled in recent years.

Seldom right and wrong again SANFL Reserves did not begin until 1919 with West Torrens being the first premier. The SAAFL began in 1911 we had our centenary last year!!!!
2017, 2019 & 2020 PREMIERS
RICHMOND, RICHMOND, RICHMOND.

Let that be a lesson to you Sturt. You don't beat Glenelg 3 times in a row in Grand Finals and get away with it.

That was only for the first year wasn't it? Must be something else in it for them to give it an extended run.

If Foxtel choose not to show games live i very much doubt they would still financially run the competition.

South already offered a spot for next year. I think we will do it again.

Really? Norwood and Central will be up in arms about not having the opportunity to decline!

If true makes the comp even more of a joke that the 2 top sides wont be offered the spot especially considering South didnt even make the mickey mouse cup final and may even not make the top 5 in the SANFL.

Perhaps the organisers are going to reward South because they supported the competition and performed - I could understand that.

Oh, so it's broken is it? In that case have it played in North Korea, their rational thinking would fit seemlessly in with the wanko's at the AFL! Anyone know how to spell Rox's Off in Korean ffs 8)

Giving up on a Grand Final spot already? Shame on you. ;)

Yep it rewards mediocrity.
Imagine if South goes on to win the spoon but still gets invited back :?

I think penalise, more like it. ;)
I reckon Port took it pretty serious in their first game just as South did.
South "resting" Ainger, Little and someone else probably weren't as serious/supportive in the second game.
I reckon let Westies, North and South play, their coaches (particularly North and Wests) have been such visible advocates.

I think I have the solution on how to fix the Foxtel Cup.
Have the results from these games counted in to the regular SANFL season:
"But that means the participants play more games than the non-participating clubs!" I hear you say.
Well, we could reschedule the season so participants don't play as many SANFL games as nonparticipants. We could schedule flexibility into the season also, so if a side progresses deep into the Foxtel Cup accordingly there'd be SANFL sides with a scheduled bye to either take a rest or to play them if they happened to be knocked out. Just make sure all sides have played the same amount of games by the end of the minor round.
If the games counted for actual premiership points, and no team was penalized with extra games, my guess is that about every SANFL side would want to be in it because the above formula cancels out all the major negatives.
I think it is genius.
Now please tear said idea to shreds.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail
1915, 1919, 1926, 1932, 1940, 1966, 1967, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1974, 1976, 2002, 2016, 2017

Not a bad thought, I feel the programming of matches would finish up being a nightmare and favouring some team/s along the way.

If Foxtell was to increase the prize money to something decent, then it would work itself out.
I wish my remembering was as good as my forgetting
