Norwood seem to be a little down right now, certainly in my mind the dogs have better form, but they also might be lacking in motivation. This week might be the motivation to lift their game again. I think Norwood might get up here. At home and the strange difficulty the dogs seem to have on smaller grounds might tip things in favor of Norwood.

Glenelg's a small oval.

Yeah, but any disadvantage to Central is balanced by the fact that Glenelg plays there.

an excellent point you have there!

Yes, I've always wondered why Glenelg doesn't give us the same trouble Norwood and Sturt do. Even when Norwood and Sturt were struggling to compete over the year, we just didn't cope so well on their turf. Perhaps Glenelg struggle on small grounds too? ;)

Where did I say the dogs can't win? And I'm not sure I even tip against the dogs often at all. Or do you think we're all the same person so if one dogs fans said something we all think that?

Roy's objective is always a top 3 spot.

But having said all that it will be interesting to see where the 2 clubs are at midway through the season.
Very very hard to imagine that any side, even Centrals, wouldn't love the massive advantage that comes with the minor premiership in the final 5 system.

Seeing that over the last 6 or so rounds, Norwood have actually lost 1 game and been in a poor position in 3 others (South, West, Sturt), if Centrals can win they'd certainly rank themselves some chance of making up a further 2 games in the remaining rounds. Whereas realistically if Norwood win, only a calamitous drop in form could see them challenged for top spot by the end of the minor round.

Plus both sides will want to take the psychological advantage into the almost-inevitable final(s) these 2 teams will play against each other.

Should all add up to a massive, no-holds-barred match.

Norwood to lift and win a close one. Nobody likes seeing the Dogs win anything.

News from Norwood is that Michael Newton has done his ACL and his season 2012 is finished .. Massive blow for the Legs, hopefully we can find ways to compensate for his absence.

Not good when the spearhead you have been aiming at for 6 months goes down. Bad luck to the bloke and the 'Legs.

Nope, not good at all, but Central has had probably the worst injury list of all clubs in recent seasons, and hardly missed a beat .. We need to be able to do the same.

MICHAEL NEWTON
3 July 2012

The Norwood Football Club is extremely disappointing to have to deliver the news that scans this morning have found that Norwood Recruit Michael Newton has ruptured his ACL in Sunday’s game versus Sturt.

Michael will see a specialist later this week to assess his options for a reconstruction.

Henry Davis has unfortunately re-torn his ACL in the same knee that held him out for the whole of 2011. Henry will miss up to 12 months.

All here at Norwood wish both lads well with their recovery.

If you think the highlighted section says the dogs can't win then they must be. I said "Norwood might get up here". That's far from saying they're over the line. It was intended to be more of a leaning to Norwood in a close game. I suspect most read it as such and understood the comment.

Who are you? Point out where I'm wrong if you have such an issue with me. I'm wrong all the time and when I am, I admit as much. But if I don't think I'm wrong I'll disagree, like everyone else on this planet. In this case someone has misunderstood my comment as being something totally different to what it was intended.

Rotten news for Norwood and the two lads in question. But there's a job to do and I still think Norwood are a chance at a flag this year. Not that we'll make it easy for them. ;)

PS. That doesn't mean I'm writing off the dogs......

That's a blow for the Legs. At least they've got some handy known goal kickers in Jericho and Warren.
How had his form been? I noticed he'd played in the ressies a few times, but not sure if that was coming back from injury. At the start of the year when I heard Norwood had signed him I thought he was going to be one of the key recruits of the year. I know he's a strong mark and would probably take any teams number one defender.
