EPL Season 2012-2013

EPL, FA Cup, Carling Cup, The Championship, etc

Only 4.5 hours to the EPL season starts.

I dont think i have been this excited about the opening of a sporting season like i have this year for the EPL.

Im always a tad of an optimist but im really excited about West Hams prospects this year.

I like the way Big Sam has managed to mould the side to suit his style and not automatically have to play the 'West Ham Style' which is pretty but doesnt always get results.

I like out mixture of youth and experience. With Jussi in goals, Nolan and Cole upfront we have experience at both ends of the ground. In Vaz Te, Diarra, Diame, Demel we have some real exciting youth coming through. We also have a couple of players in Matty Taylor and Noble who are free kick specialists which could be all the difference between win/loss and draw.

This year there seems to abundance of sides who could finish top half but also get relegated. Games against the likes of Aston Villa, Swansea, Reading, Stoke, QPR, Southampton, Sunderland, Wigan, Reading etc will be crucial.

Our side for the game against Villa will look something like below, defence is a tad week but in attack we look pretty good.

---------Jaaskelainen--------------

Demel--Tomkins--Collins--O'Brien

---Noble-----Diame------Taylor---

Vaz Te------------------------Nolan
--------------Cole-------------------

Clint Dempsey is refusing to take the field for Fulham against Norwich.
Has told the club he wants a transfer to Liverpool and will not suit up for Fulham again

Those two Liverpool penalties were dead set soft. I've never rated that ref, a game in the championship beckons for him

Great to get the 3 points by West Ham with an average display.

Collins was great at the back and Momo Diame looks a real good prospect. Cole worked his a55 off for his whole stint and Kevin Nolan is a classy finisher.

We are definatly playing 'long ball' which wont please the fans but results at home should be enough to keep them happy.

Aston Villa were awful!!!!! Even in the last 5 minutes they looked more like they were protecting a lead rather than pushing for an equaliser.

Next up for the Hammers is Swansea Away! Real tough trip, we cant afford to give Michu and Dyer as much time on the ball as we did the AV midfielders early. I wouldnt be surprised to see Tomkins come into a holding midfield role.

I think QPR have the funds that if they need to they will buy in the transfer window.

Bozza on Foxsports made a good point though about jumping the gun to early.

Bolton beat QPR 4-0 on the opening day last year and look how that ended up.

well, first weekend over, some big surprises.

who would have thought swansea and fulham with those big wins. Wonder what the odds would have been on those.

IMO i dont think southampton will do well. They had a good game against city, but its the first week, first game, its anyones result really in most ways.

Big game for this weekend would be Liverpool vs man city. Man city to win for me. Followed close by Chelski v toon.

Liverpool looked woeful (sorry JK), just never in it IMO, watch the game on replay, and yeah

RVP did play well for man utd, linked up well with kagawa (whatever his name is)

for me, i think we played well against sunderland, just didnt finish. doesnt help when teams come to emirates and park the bus. When teams play their normal game, we tend to do them over. Lets see this week coming, at stoke, we never fare well there normally.

Well at least the Everton trip is out of the way. Carrick might play centre back against Fulham as well if Johnny Evans isn't fit.

He also cheered on Chelsea though the champions league. I would say since becoming a pundit and now being england u21/23?? coach he doesn't really have that rivalry stuff happening. Thats not to say that he doesn't love man utd because I am sure he does just he can put aside the other stuff and be objective which as either a pundit or a coach you want really.
The problem with Barcelona is that I like fish and chips but they had to turn it into calamari and patatas

Checking in gents.
Never been too interested in soccer let alone EPL but Saturday night I was with a bunch of fanatics (arsenal, Liverpool, spurs) and they made me pick a team to follow.
No band wagoner but I'm onboard man united.

Disappointing first up loss - lucky it wasn't more and that tall Afro everton guy really caused us headaches.

Hopefully van percie starts this week!!

(been doing my homework ;) )

Well if it was that easy to persuade you maybe you should of hung around me for a little while... You are only going to be disappointed come seasons end... fortunately you can change that now if you like :)

You got a few options... I dont think we got any Aston Villa, Newcastle, Norwich, QPR, Reading, Stoke, Sunderland, Swansea, WBA or Wigan supporters on this forum... choose one of them maybe?

Pretty sure there's a few supporters around here that go for those teams. I'm pretty sure OnSong supports Wigan & I know supports the imbreds from Norich, based on the thread below a few seem to follow Sunderland as well.

Although picking Man U is most certainly hopping on a bandwagon! ;)
