In what way was it a poor game by Valleys Mister Footy ????

Some of our team didnt play their best footy on Saturday - credit to be given to a quality opposition
This finals series is going to be alot closer than some predict

One game to go before finals, is Brighton missing some players or are they playing a little below expectations at present?
Two very close wins of late makes me think they are very lucky to be sitting 2nd on the ladder.

What is happening down the Hill?
They went underfeated in 2010 but lost the GF, then in 2011 they lost one game and won the grand final and this year they have lost 4 games plus won games against Reynella (10th) by 1 point, M/V (9th) by 5 points over the past 2 rounds.
Are they getting the yips when they play away as well? 3 of the 4 losses have been away games and the 4th loss was against the top team. Then you look at the last two games when they have just won and both games were away to teams they smashed at home.
Lucky they are playing Noarlunga home this weekend, but I wouldn't say they have the best form coming into finals.
Happy Valley are playing really well as well as Morphettville, my tip will be for Happy Valley to meet Brighton in the final but Brighton will go through the hard way and have to get past MP to get in.
Looks like it will be a huge weekend this weekend for the bottom half of the eight and a cracker final series the following week.
This year will be the closest in years, especially if a Morphett Vale or Reynella can sneak in.

Watched this game as well as B Grade on Saturday. To me it seemed Valley struggled to work the smaller ground and certainly didn't have the height all over the ground, but they basically won it on running power and peeling off their bigger opponents at every opportunity. MVP were very dangerous every time they went forward to Barrie, but would question his capacity to work well on a bigger ground where the ball goes in slower. Probably a good win for for Valleys to chalk up a hard fought, ugly victory rather than just walking over everyone as they have done in previous weeks.

Think MVP are a genuine contender, but like most still think it will be Brighton and Valleys on the last day.

Thanks for your thoughts on Brighton "The Brad". We have not beaten Reynella at Reynella for several years so will take any win at the Egg. We were not undeafeatd in 2010 barring the GF. We drew at Reynella in Round 1 and lost later in the season at MV. In 2011 we lost once and that was also at Reynella. So considering that Reynella beat Noarlunga by 4 goals at Noarlunga the week before, any win was going to be a good win.

At the moment no team (even HV if you believe Mr Footy) has had a convincing run of games as we head to September so it will be a very interesting finals series and recent finals history shows that whatever the results late in the season, don't expect the same result in finals if the teams meet again.

Think Mr Footy seems to be playing things down, keeping a lid on it, one week at a time, no expectations, underdog status.....

Seen Valley dismantle some very good sides this year. N.Eagleton has been used sparingly and should be cherry ripe for finals. Jon Eagleton has been quiet too, but they seem to have incredible depth at the moment, particularly in the midfield. I would say Valley are clear favourites at the moment with daylight to Brighton then Morphie Park. Can't see anyone else doing too much damage in the finals though.

DTH is correct that finals are a whole new ball game and I for one am ready to go .... lets get round 22 out the way and get stuck into it. I reckon Brightons experience in big finals will see them through to the last one and the lack of finals experience will be a factor for the twisties

On another topic can anyone from emus confirm whether their A grade coach has been signed up for next year or is there any truth to the rumour that he is "coming home"

was annoyed to hear today that last saturday week some cove u/16s went out of their way to put the young saints gun full forward off his game, it started before the first bounce and continued all game, finally after 7 goals (which took his season total to 103) and late in the last qtr he retaliated after copping a punch in the kidneys and got pinged for it which has earned him a 2 week holiday. shit tactics cove, if their coach is telling his young players to stoop to that crap then he is a disgrace to junior footy

It's also a big celebration for HVFC this weekend with the 60th Birthday etc. so would imagine they would want to finish the season on a high leading into finals. My Mail is the Player / Person in question has a few more games to play before the end of this season. Will be pretty big coup for the club if it all comes together.

If David earl was appointed the a grade coaching position at m/vale next season, this would be the best appointment at the emus since Trevor Potts arrived. Further to this I think the hype around David Earl coaching the emus would pull helpers and supporters back to the club which is very much required at this time.
