One of the initiatives at South Adelaide for the school competitions in their area is for each team to get a chance to play under lights at Noarlunga Oval.
Tonight in my sons first week of football he got to play on a league oval under lights and had an absolute ball.
They had 3 games going at the same time across the oval, lights were good (better than Elizabeth) and the kids had a ball.
Great facilities with parents being able to drive their cars into the grounds, plenty of toilets, bbq on and canteen open.
And after our game at 6.45 which went for an hour there were 2 more schools playing too.
Fantastic stuff by South, it was worth missing the first 10 mins at Norwood Oval tonight to have the pleasure of watching my son and his mates play on a league oval in his first ever game of footy.
South Adelaide are doing awesome things for their youngsters in the area down there, other clubs (especially North) need to take a leaf out of their book.
Just for the record my son's side (Braeview Primary) beat Reynella East 8-6 to 8-3 and my son kicked a goal too.
Not bad considering his old man played 50 games for Noarlunga (and one year of Under 8s for Camden Primary at full back) to only kick 1 goals 13 for his career.
Well done South Adelaide!
