Can't wait for that book, will be a brilliant read...

Robert Laidlaw and Steve Barratt have done some brilliant research so it will be a good publication, no doubt...

One will be remembered for a certain king hit in the Granny. Haven't seen anything like it since Granger and Sims. Well done and good riddance ;)

Yeah, and they pointed against Sturt once also.

In all seriousness a couple of years too late perhaps?
Only met Chris off the field and he was a great bloke to drink with and have a yarn with.
In retrospect I wish he'd punched my ex's lights out instead of just laughing at her when she slapped him.

I appreciate tremendously the fact that those blokes are retiring.

Now the other 7 SANFL clubs plus Port might be half a chance to beat Central :D

Don't think so, no...

Yes, their aging bodies have caught up with them but Chris finished 6th in the B&F last year and both had good moments last season and in the limited game time they have had this year, they certainly haven't been the worst players.

I think it is the right time now though and hope for their sake they can go out on a high in about 5 weeks time...

Probably two distinguishable periods of influence they had. When they came over Centrals were perhaps on the brink of slipping back after the mid-90's, at least a club unsure it fully believed it could succeed, and they and a couple of others really put their stamp on the club and the comp both to win that first flag and then ensure the club weren't content with just one. The last 4-5 years they have probably been more complementary to the team and reinforcing the culture to players coming through, whilst blokes like Goodrem, Boyd and Callinan have stepped up to be the prime players.
For all the yap, intimidatory tactics, hardness at the ball, it is easy to overlook they were very skilled players on both sides of their bodies.
As was mentioned in the retirements thread, Gowans, Cicca, Clayton, players whose passion gets under opponents and supporters skin, but it's this passion that also drives them to be the best players.

Great players. Important cog in the emergence of the centrals footy club as a powerhouse. Ornaments to SANFL footy.

Most importantly great blokes.
