If Geelong wins they will face the loser of Sydney/Crows in Melbourne. Then face the winner of Hawthorn/Collingwood.

Incorrect, Geelong will be travelling to Sydney or Adelaide in week 2 if they beat Freo.

It is interesting to look at.
I never really cared at all about the VFL until there was an SA team in it.
When in social situations that required some interest in the VFL to be expressed I offered my slight interest in Hawthorn.
I've tended to support the Power against anyone but the Crows, purely because they are SA based.

Whether clubs are located in South Australia, Western Australia, Victoria or on the moon makes no difference to me, if they're not my club they're not my club, simple.
It's a club competition, not a state competition and the state teams are based in is irrelevent.
Ive followed Geelong since the early 80s and saw no reason to change when any new side entered.

Surely you appreciate the concept of local rivalry though?

My personal dislike in seeing the two Adelaide succeed stems mainly from
a) the hysterical media (more in the crows case)
b) the number of front running/fairweather supporters I know (in port’s case). I realise all clubs have them though…
SAFC- 60 years...
StKFC- 58 years..

Dont forget every Australian loves to bring the tall poppy down. AFC has the majority share of the market, hence the minority who dont support AFC hate hearing about them (from AFC Supporters/media etc etc). So win loose or draw they cant really win  . Its more than ok to have a dislike/hatred of an opposition - (I hate POrt and my grandfather would turn in his grave if i said anything nice about them  ) but knowledgement of achievement and unbiased discussion must occur instead of blatant un constructive abuse towards another team. Works both ways though, all clubs have nuff an educated supporters..... as ive said before, they often the vocal minority.

This. But I'll be cheering on the Crows this week. The Freo final will be tougher than many Cats fans would like to admit but if we get by that then I'd rather play Sydney at ANZ than the Crows at AAMI Stadium.

Thats it REB, no one is saying you have to support an SA side purely because of where you live. Many factors form the reason peoople support the team they do. Its purely the biased hatred based and antagonistic comments that non SA club supporters often come out with that gets on my nerves. And often they make up pissweak excuses ie media beat up and because the AFL gave the crows an easy draw or because some nuffy supporter they know

North Melbourne had an easier draw than the crows and you don't hear people saying they only made the 8 because of the draw.

The crows made the games against the bottom 10 count, they only lost 1 game from 13 to bottom 10 teams.

North Melbourne lost 3 games from 14 against bottom 10 teams.

Geelong is the only top 8 team not to lose to a bottom 10 side.

Hawks lost 1 from 11 (richmond)

Crows 1 from 13 (Brisbane)

Swans 2 from 11 (St Kilda - Richmond)

Magpies 2 from 12 (Carlton)

Eagles 2 from 11 (Essendon - Brisbane)

Cats 0 from 11

Dockers 2 from 13 (Carlton - Essendon)

Kangaroos 3 from 14 (Essendon - Port - Western Bulldogs)

2012 AFL Finals

Postby RustyCage » Mon Sep 03, 2012 2:44 pm

I'm a Port supporter, have been all my life. I have a varying degree of like and dislike for the 17 other teams. The Crows are at the top of my dislike list. I don't wish them well, I hope they lose every week. On top of that, I'd love the sickeningly pro Crow media to have nothing to gloat about. It's not state or origin, it's a club based comp.

In saying that, I'll happily acknowledge when someone from the crows does something good, or if the crows are playing well, or of they've been screwed by poor umpiring, I can look at them objectively, it's not blind bias. I think they will win this week by 5 goals. Doesn't mean I will be happy about it!

this also.

i don't support against any particular team, i just support for Collingwood to have an easier run.

in this case, it might sound silly, but i would rather play the Crows over here in a Prelim than Hawthorn in Melbourne.

i'm not sure if it's even worth asking, but if my predictions are correct, it could be Adel v Coll and Haw v Geel/Syd for the prelims.

any idea what day/night the Adel v Coll prelim might be, and what would you base your suggestions on? or is it completely useless speculating about this now as it's a completely random decision madde by the AFL after the Semi's?
