Congratuations to the Gowans boys on 12 wonderful years as icons of the SANFL and true legends at CDFC. So many great memories and every time you hear an opposition supporter bag them it just made you proud to have them in red, white & blue.
Let's hope the doggies can give them a perfect send off with Premiership #10.

Top blokes off the field too. Always happy to have a chat.
Cheers lads!

I appreciate the fact they're finally retiring. In all seriousness they have both been brilliant players for the doggies and the SANFL. As much as most other supporters loved to hate them, they would have been just as happy having them playing for their clubs. Congrats to Chris & James on a great career. Let's hope they get stuck on 9 premiership medals though...

THE MESSIAH!!
AND IT CAME TO PASS THAT IT WAS IN THE YEAR OF THE DOG THAT J.C., THE MESSIAH, AT LAST RE-APPEARED UPON THE FACE OF THE EARTH, MAKING AS HIS HOME THE NORTHERN PLAINS OF THE CITADEL OF ADELAIDEA, IN THE SOUTHERN REACHES OF THE REMOTE CONTINENT OF AUSTRALIA.
AND THERE WAS GREAT JUBILATION AMONG THE POPULACE, FOR HAD THEY NOT ENDURED A WHOLE THREE DECADES OF STARVATION, DEPRIVATION & HUMILIATION UNDER THE RULE OF THE RABID, RED-LEGGED NORWOODIANS IN THE EAST & THE EVIL, HEAVY-HANDED PORTONIANS IN THE WEST? HAD THEY NOT WAITED IN HOPE OVER THE YEARS FOR THIS VERY MOMENT?
AND SO IT WAS THAT NO SOONER HAD THE MESSIAH APPEARED THAT THE FORTUNES OF THE NORTHERN PLAINS PEOPLE BEGAN TO CHANGE FOR THE GOOD. THEIR WEEKLY ENDEAVOURS BEGAN TO BEAR THE FRUITS OF THEIR LABOURS & THEIR LIVES BEGAN TO HAVE SOME MEANING. THEY BEGAN TO GREET EACH OTHER IN THE STREETS WITH SMILES & LAUGHTER, EVEN TO SING OUT LOUD THEIR STRANGE SONGS OF PRAISE, SUCH AS "YOOOOOOOOO 'DOGS" & "CCCEEENNNTTTRRRAAALLLSSS" TO EACH OTHER, WAVING THEIR ARMS LIKE PALM TREES IN THE WIND.
AND SINGING & LAUGHTER COULD BE HEARD ALL AROUND THROUGHOUT THE DAYS & THE NIGHTS.
AND THEIR ENEMIES DID GROW STRONG & THEY INCREASED THEIR EFFORTS TO ONCE AGAIN SUBJUGATE THEM, ALL TO NO AVAIL.
AND FOR 12 YEARS AFTER THE ARRIVAL OF THE MESSIAH BACK UPON THE EARTH, THEY REIGNED SUPREME & IT WAS GOOD.
AND THE MIRACLE OF IT ALL WAS THAT J.C., THE MESSIAH, HAD RETURNED TO EARTH IN THE FORM OF TWIN BROTHERS, THE ONE BEING JAMES & THE OTHER CHRISTOPHER.

Some of the hordes blasphemed "they're not the Messiah, they're very naughty boys", - they were stoned.

Deserving of all the praise they get. Their record is phenomenal.

In an era dominated by the AFL media, they would be household names in South Australia and will be a huge loss to the SANFL. Hopefully some years down the track they are back involved in coaching at SANFL level.

Especially loved the contests between the Gowans twins and Cica and also Paul Lindsay. Would love to see one more battle.

Make sure you tune in to 107.9 LifeFM (on air at 6:30pm) tomorrow night for the Central v North clash...

I interviewed both Gowans' boys about their time in the SANFL and it will be played during the coverage...

Congrats to the pair of them. As many have said on here- Love to hate em, but they'd have been the first blokes I'd have picked to come to the Bay over the past decade.

The type of characters that demand everything of themselves and their team mates. Success thrives on these things.

Ha ha !!!
On the way home from Dogs training last night, I was thinking Skeff will be wanting a Jimmy & Clint version as well !!!
I will see what I can do, if I can round them both up pre-game, before they head off to their team meeting...

Well said, agree completely.

It could be argued they have had more of an influence to their club off field than on it, with leadership, culture setting and community activities.

Agree hardest part to replace next season will be in the pre season when players are trying to take short cuts or not putting in.

Central suffered longer under Sturt's rule than Norwood's.

Well done Twins. I think I managed to spend your entire careers overseas and I look forward to you not playing for the Dogs when I get back.
Seriously; 9 flags in 11 years? And we're expected to be nice to these people? ;)

You reckon no one else holds players accountable?

Everyone is replaceable, but we'll miss this pair of angry bastards.

I think the Gowans hold team-mates accountable moreso than others.
