Weather was fine, and I managed to make it all the way from being at Noarlunga at 7pm and having to stop at KFC for my son's dinner so I don't know what the other people's excuses were.
Considering Norwood were the favs I was very disappointed by how many fans they had there, when I got there I started at the Northern goals and had never seen the rows near the fence in front of Coopers Hill where all the Norwood fans usually are so bare in my life. Could walk all the way to the wing before having to go to the back walkway to get around the light tower.
Stands weren't even close to half full too.

LOL. :D

Actually we're all Bays fans in disguise.

Now you're just being silly, as I know only 12 Bays fans travel away from CRO.

Does anyone know the official attendance? Would have done very well to get 5 thou.
But it was more than a victory for Greece. It was a stirring example to free people throughout the world of what a few brave men can accomplish once they refuse to submit to tyranny.

Exactly 16,000 short of target. Waiting on the "North lead the way again" comments to start about winning with 19 players.

Well North weren't exactly prepared to pump the game up, were they Wedgie? Need I elaborate?

So Norwood fans only rock up if North fans pump up the game?
Christ, I overestimated Norwood fans if that's the case Squawk.

You sound more tiresome than Rucci mate.
Mind you at least he only blames the opposition coach for not promoting Port games and didn't even get as pathetic as you as to blame the supporters of the Crows being the reason Port fans dont rock up!
If I could make it from Noarlunga Im sure a few locals could have made it unless they're completely pissweak and not worthy of consideration mate.

Must admit the game didn't turn out as expected though but noone would have expected North to stuff up and only have 19 players, would have been a comfortable win as predicted if they had though.

4,200 is not bad for a game against North.

I expected better mate, you make a ridiculous comment and cant even respond to back it up, it says more than enough on its own.

Back to the topic at hand though, in all seriousness why would North supporters get excited about playing Norwood?
It looks like I'll have to be blunt as I was trying to avoid you getting upset previously.
Norwood came 3rd to last in 2006 and only claim to fame in 2007 is beating the 2nd to last side from 2006.
I can understand you and other Norwood supporters getting excited about playing North but from our point of view playing Norwood is no different to playing Glenelg, West or Sturt, ie just a necessary victory to get tuned up for when we play the big boys.
Feel free to build up games when you're playing big clubs but don't expect the big clubs fans to get too excited when playing a modern day minnow.
Personally I didn't get too excited about the game until I put $115 on the game and found out we had 2 less players than Norwood. I was much more excited about seeing my son play his first game of football. Feel free to shoot me for that.
Play on.

Norwood v North Round 5.

Postby sturtpeter » Sun May 06, 2007 10:24 am

I really enjoyed this match. Thought Norwood but for inaccurate kicking in the Second Quarter showed they can challenge ALL SANFL sides week in week out.

Enjoyed viewing the First Half from the Hill. BBQ excellent as usual :P

Caught up with Paul Blandis and the mercurial DB for a beverage in the RSL Hall after the game and enjoyed being present at the Norwood presentations :D :D

The rest of the night is a blur but at least I wasn't driving.

Looking forward to a shoot-out next week at Prospect and expect Brant Chambers to be firing on all cylinders after a weekend away interstate 8)

Perhaps these tune-ups aren't working that well Wedgie. You've been in as many Grand Finals as we have this decade.

Agreed mate, one of the reasons we probably haven't is we used to get excited over wins over the lower clubs, not any more.

Wedgie, you are digging a hole so big for yourself that one of your club's business partners might say "the need has arisen" for you to start working full time as a grave digger. Not sure you'd be the ideal employee though.

Mate, if you're not prepared to even defend your ideas when legitimate points have been made then no need for further insults or go completely off topic, I do expect better from you.
Fact is it might be a big game for Norwood supporters when they play North but its just another game we expect to win against a lowly side when we play Norwood.
Get over it.
Im sure the 3 of the websites I created in the Norwood forum, the Roost and SAFooty contributed to some sort of build up to the game, next time in the leadup to the game I'll do a couple of handstands for you as well if you feel that will help get some Norwood supporters to the game.
As I said previously I was more excited about my son's first game in his life on Friday night, shoot me for being a good father.
FFS.

PS Thanks for the link to alfred james, I looked up the site and found Norwood's premiership hopes there!

Actually Norwood's premiership hopes do not rest there because they sponsor North and Sturt, not Norwood (yet).

Keep on digging..........

OK mate, I assume you don't want to address any points up as you're a tad embarassed, I understand that mate, as they say play on and Mrs Wedgie laughed her head off at the Norwood's premiership hopes, I thought you might find some fun in it too but it appears not. :?
On a similar note though, one thing that did strike me in my first season of lawn bowls was the amount of lawn bowls clubs sponsored by funeral parlours, they know where to try and attract customers!
