Terrible news.

Heart goes out to his family, friends and team mates past and present.

Such a tragedy to lose a man so young.

End of season footy trips are never going to be the same for those other young men who are with him.

RIP John.

I've not been able to concentrate on anything for the last couple of hours.....unbelievable.

A terrible loss and my thoughts are of the young blokes who were with him. For the rest of their lives this will be with them...

It has now been announced to the Port fraternity and family etc so is out in the open.
How could you fall off a balcony unless you were showboating and probably p1ssed? Someone will have to take responsibility for this dreadful tragedy. Watch the bullets fly!

Would Port cancel the rest of the trip and head home or could Police hold them there until they have completed their investigation?

I know that Peter Rhodes is going over there to speak to the players who are in Vegas. Very sad news to see any player no matter what club he plays for pass away like this.

Dreadful news.

Winning and losing football matches is trivial compared to this.

Shocking news. My footy club has lost too many players to accidents (1 is too many) and I know how tough it is to accept.
The Port footy club will all be feeling very numb for a long time. :(

what are you suggesting?
Also, the hotel in the picture on Adelaide Now supports what you say.

Sad loss for his family, friends, Port Adelaide FC, and the Football Community in general.

Unbelievable. Vale John, my heart goes out to your family, friends and all at PAFC.

Now this may be insensitive timing, but what happens to port in terms of list management? Are they given access to an extra draft pick, or upgrade a rookie? What happened with Melbourne when the taunami took Troy broadbridge?

Different circumstances- Troy lost his life after the lists had been settled for the season.
As sad as it is, (as a fomality) he will probably be de-listed, and therefore open up a spot for Port to draft another player with.
