I have no problem with a club having extra points but I think any club that gets them shouldn't be allowed to use a junior player for -1 points just to keep them below their point allocation in a particular game. Morphy Park did this for 1 of the games Backwell played and may have continued to do it if Backwell didn't get injured. The -1 player they used was only 16 and probably sat on the bench most of the game. I think this is stretching the boundaries of fairness for clubs that get extra points.

Would love to say he spat the dummy at not being in the top 4 in the Mail Medal, but in truth I believe he had a bad bout of gastro. The same thing that destroyed the Emu's finals campaign back in 2010.

Thanks DTH, not saying Port would not have won with Cranston there, but it sure helped their cause.
Be careful mate, the Divers are running hot.

Reckon he's got a fair case to be upset about not being top 4. He was an awesome pickup for the Roos and played at a level well above most. I know voting is subjective, but his work ethic and class were surely deserving of a top 4 in the voting. A player that would have fitted brilliantly at any club in the SFL.

the player in question DTH, Eyre White is u/16 captain he did all the pre season with the seniors and was keen to play higher, he played 6 senior games for the club and deserved his spot in the A's after playing well in the B's, over the years the club has been forced to play young players similar to Aldinga this year, sometimes these players are not ready and we have lost them to the game....it is great credit to Eyre who started at the club as a u/9.....Many off the clubs current players who came through the juniors never got the chance to play u/18's they went straight into seniors from u/16's and copped the 40 goal hidings, no complaints then, maybe those floggings have helped the club over the last 5 yrs as they learn't the hard way. The Roos have not had u/18's since 06 when it had to withdraw the side to fill the seniors, this is why they applied for extra points to help rebuild juniors which is starting to happen, success takes time.

So the lad in question plays one game in over a month for MVP on 16th June in B Grade makes his form irresistible to play A Grade, coincidentally the day Backwell plays his first game for the club and minus one point was required to fit in Backwell.

Gives us a break, he played A grade so Backwell could play. Don't spin us a yarn that playing his first B grade game 3 weeks prior meant he deserved his spot.

You missed the point BDH. No problem with a promising kid playing senior footy but to do it in the 1 game that was needed so that Blackwell could play without dropping another points player is WRONG. My argument is that this strategy should not be allowed by a club that has already been provided with extra points. And like RAP said, young White was away on holidays for the 2 or 3 weeks before this game so don't spin us a yarn about being in ripping form and was banging down the door for an A grade game. Regulars on this forum know a fair bit about whats going on around the SFL so don't try and fool us with your flawed argument.

Where there are rules that can be manipulated, they will always be used to advantage. Doesn't make it right, but doesn't make it outside the rules either. The whole points thing leaves way too much room for exploitation.

Saw MVP under 16 side on Saturday and watched them destroy Brighton in the GF, so they should have enough of their own junior talent coming through in the next 3 years. Will be interesting to see how they nurture the talent and how that comes through 18's. Certainly have a base to build from.

VC what you need to remember is that the other SFL clubs were asked and supported the granting of extra points. One would imagine after the money runs out and the sunday under 16's go back to their school footy and saafl clubs and MVPFC ask again the other SFL clubs will not support next time. You should not bite the helping hand that is offered.

Cant see why he would'nt be going round again Tiger, considering the age of his squad this yr I reckon HFC did OK, they will develop in time as for all the controversy ,no rules were broken so half his luck ,
