Funny when Ballaeu bitches about school funding and he was part of a Government that shut 330 public schools, and then when Premier recently slashed $300 million from TAFE budgets. Prior to last election Balleau promised over and over Victorian teachers would be the best paid in the country. Still waiting on that one ...but the cops got their pay rise.

You have to remember Bailleau inherited a huge financial mess from the previous government, as did Kennett, and, in SA, Brown/Olsen.
They all did a lot of things they would have preferred not to have to do had the states not been in such huge debt.
(I know, first hand, that's true of Olsen - I talked to him about it at the odd local barbecue at the time.)

SA is going to have the same problem again.
Rann started slashing the public service himself just before he took the golden handshake.
(But that seems to have been abandoned since he departed.)

You seem to have a pattern of blaming the people who are making the hard choices to clean up the mess the profligacy of the ALP left behind each time.

And today we got the news of the crowning turd in the sewer pipe. They are cutting funding to CFA!!!! A predominantly volunteer force that operates with minimual $ as it is from the Government.
Well it's a good thing that we never have bushfires in Victoria I suppose.

The first time was just after he'd become Premier. Alexander Downer was there, too, and went on to joke about the further hardship the papers were saying would come from a rumoured 10% cut in state funds if the coalition won Federal office, along the lines of "What only 10%!"
I suggested we'd take a 10% cut if the Feds took over the SA ALP's residual deficit, and John said, "I'll be in that!"

The second occasion was later in his Premiership after he had been doing the hard work of digging us out of the mess for a while.

I agree both parties give their ex-members cushy jobs and it needs to be stopped.
I used to enjoy Robin Millhouse turning down pay rises and giving them to charity, and saying he didn't need a car provided.
Both parties combined to get him out of Parliament because he was embarrassing them.

No I wont vote Labor but some neutral fence-sitting people might be swayed by what is essentially carefully scripted and rehearsed BS of the first degree. No substance just a media opportunity which Rudd in Queensland is an expert.

The meeting between Wests Tigers star Robbie Farah and Julia Gillard to discuss social media abuse is in jeopardy after it emerged today the footballer reportedly tweeted the PM should be given "a noose" for her 50th birthday.

The deleted message from Farah was uncovered by social media strategist Karalee Evans of Text100, who asked Farah if his much-publicised stance against online trolling was hypocritical given the violent nature of his message in September last year.

"Dear @robbiefarah, this is a bit hypocritical, no? Telling the PM to get a noose for her birthday! Oh dear," she tweeted, attaching a copy of the tweet she had obtained online.

Farah’s tweet was in response to one posted by former rugby league player and now Triple M radio presenter Mark Geyer who had asked his followers what the Prime Minister should get for her 50th birthday.

Extremist radio personality Alan Jones continues to sink to new lows:

VETERAN broadcaster and 2GB host Alan Jones has claimed Prime Minister Julia Gillard's father died of "shame" because of the political "lies" his daughter told.

He told a group of 100 Young Liberals that John Gillard's death was the fault of his proud child.

He went on to suggest Ms Gillard's tears of grief, for a man she publicly said she "will miss for the rest of my life", were what sparked a sudden leap in political polling for her.

Mr Gillard, a former psychiatric nurse, died in Adelaide on September 8, age 83.

The remarks occurred during Mr Jones' 50-minute speech at the annual $100-per-head Sydney University Liberal Club President's Dinner, on the top floor of Sydney's Waterfront restaurant in The Rocks last Saturday.
