I have not been approached to coach at the WFC this year, next year or any year. I have not approached the WFC to coach this year, next year or any year. This is an unconditional statement.

Tasmans too good on the day and to not win a premiership with that list would almost be a bigger underachievement than Tumby losing the 2007 grandy to Ramblers after going undefeated and with an average winning margin through the year of around 70pts

How could so called experts tip lincoln south?
I thought Jantke did a good job tagging the mail medalist and the goal umpires did a good job![]()
Lincoln South would be happy with their season as they probably got the best out of the player list they had.
Congratulations to Francis on his medal win. How could the so called times expert who watches football everyweek not have him in his top 4?
Interesting observation CU, Tasmans have an incredible list on paper and have now earned the right to play in a grand final.
But on a Souths front, I believe it would have been a disappointing season had they not got that far. Any side containing Jericho, Browne, Story, White, Jay Williams, Sinclair, Rowe, Brayden Traeger, Hall, Edwards, Castley should be pushing for the top few spots on the ladder. Its a given that they probably had 4-5 guys that are not genuine A graders and struggled under finals and big game pressure.
But to say they would be happy or lucky with finishing third is a bit of a cop out. They would have gone into the game Saturday truly believing they were a good chance of knocking off Tasmans.

On paper this game looks a beauty…
Tasmans (Kimba South) v Mallee Park
The Roosters league flag cupboard hasn’t been opened for 20 years, (hopefully someone has the keys!!) whereas the Peckers are aiming for 4 in a row, what a contrast in success.
All that will mean sweet FA come 2.30pm on Saturday…Tasmans have been the form side of this competition for the past couple of seasons. It’s fair to say that Mallee Park have been the Roosters bogey side – a fierce rivalry has developed over this time…. Expect fireworks come Saturday
This year’s encounters have it squared-up at 2 all…. Forget about goal averages, Ill leave that up to the experts!!
Round 3 Tasmans by 32
Round 8 Mallees by 3
Round 13 Tasmans by 6
2nd Semi Mallees by 23
Last week saw a change to the Rooster game plan, which saw them use the corridor more than in the home and away games. The strength of a good side is to be able to adapt, and after being carved up by Mallees down the middle in the Second Semi – adapt against Souths they did…
Let’s, look at where this game will be won, absolutely make no mistake the Rooster forward half is the best in the competition, lined up against a Pecker back half, which is their weakness. Mallees do cause problems running from half back, so the half forward line of Tasmans need to be accountable, running defensively, if they cant - expect to see a lot of Roosters chasing Guernseys….. the game will open up and Tasmans don’t want that!
Any forward line, that includes players like Frick, Daniels, Cimma, James, Franklin, is going to kick goals, especially with the supply from the classy mids of Francis, Semmler, Mc Curry and the Seal boys, and plenty others.
Interestingly the Tasman game plan, has been to move the ball from the back half wide, along the wings to the forward 50 quite wide, to limit damage and defensive leakage – then to spot up a midfield play running towards goal (read McCurry /Francis/Seal), a lateral lead from Cimma or a short lead from there key forwards – they spot up 35 – 40 metres in front of goals. This game style has proved very successful for most of the season, BUT what this does give the opposition is the corridor – and Mallees will burn you if you give them space moving the ball into their forward 50. If the Mallee midfield, don’t push back defensively this will give the Rooster forwards too much space.
The midfield contest looms as a cracker, Malcolm and Harry versus Reece and Boyd – just to name a few – Mallee Park mids are all class, with exceptional ball reading ability, whereas the ball getting and poise of the Rooster mids will ensure that the Ruck taps (or Knocks) will be crucial. Give the Peckers outside footy and they will carve you up.
The Rooster template of recruitment and off-season signups, over the past couple of years has been nothing short of amazing, which has produced names like – Semmler, Francis, Kemp, Rodda, Seal x 2, Clements, Ken Campbell, Bascomb, Franklin, Frick, McCurry (also home grown), and hard man George, add to this long standing (some would say sufferers) Roosters in Cimma, James, Christian, Reincke and “H”, plus their home grown talent in Downey, Daniels, Frost, Milton, Wadsworth, Melzner and Perry – looks like a Premiership side on paper….BUT
Never, under estimate the finals experience of Mallee Park on the last day, they have class on every line - any team that boasts - Mallee, Waylon, Harry, Phil and Dean, Joseph, Rohan , Quade with Harrison and Sumner (and others) for support and of course hard man, AFL Premiership player and Norm Smith Medalist Byron Pickett… coupled with the rucks of Williams and young Johncock - this team could easily take the cup for a fourth consecutive year!
The key points:-
Who does each team “run-with” – Francis or McCurry and Harry, Waylon or Mallee
Does Tasmans “offer-up” the corridor with their game style?
Can the Mallee’s 6 mids push hard back into the Rooster forward line?
Does the “weight” of a premiership drought – some 20 years – add pressure to the Rooster line up??
I’m predicting a Rooster win, they should just kick more goals than Mallees…. But Grand Final pressures do amazing things to teams in finals…. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Pecker boys are singing a Pecker for you at full time.
Tasmans to be celebrating hard into next week – Roosters by 24
Sorry if it a bit long - but it's the coach in me!!
(Some of this was written tongue in cheek – with a bit of fun, so take it that way!!)
