12.35pm, B Grade, Brighton V Flagstaff Hill - Flaggies by 1 point with shot after siren. Agree with Barry, Brighton's B grade story is just amazing. Time for the run to stop!

2.30pm, A Grade, Happy Valley V Brighton - Valleys by 5 points in a thriller

No bias what so ever....

PS who wears the 'away' guernsey in the A grade? I assume Brighton?

Not sure, but would assume Valley as they finished top. If there's any trouble in the crowd, will be very hard to tell who's who!!

Wouldnt Flaggy Under 16's be strong favourites?

Talking to a Valleys parent at last weeks game, she said Valleys and Flaggies dominated the comp this year.

Personally hurts like hell to favour Brighton but.

Dutchy have seen Brighton in the last couple of weeks and they have looked very impressive, gun man child accross half back better beard than the general. Bombers may surprise

afc - Valleys didnt go out in straight sets in the 16's, lost unexpectedly in week 1, won in week 2 and lost a cracker of a game last Sat.

Sounds like it might be a good game vics, due to school footy I dont get to see any Sat juniors until finals.

Well I may get shot down in flames but If that's the new points system how do you bring new blokes to your club. Most players are worth 3 points, this is restricting how many players can come to your club. I agree the top teams should get less points but you still need to give them enough to go out and recruit. Give the top teams 15, middle group 20 and the bottom team 25 or something like that. How is the leauge going to attract ex SANFL or AFL players (worth 4pts) if clubs can't fit them in because of points. Fire away

Well 2 of the top sides played with 7 (Shoes) and 8 (Bombers) points this year so most of these points would go down for next year.... It would be interesting to see how many points Valley's played with.... Does all the Eagleton's come at no points for being Jnrs of the club???? This would only leave Peterson-Grey as the main recruit. So I believe they would have room as well.
Anyway this would leave room for new recruits for the tops sides and should leave plenty of room for new recruits for the bottom sides which is what we want for the bottom sides.

We need to bottom side to have the advantage to make this comp a much more competitive one so everyone can stop whinging about the 2 Divs... The SFL need to try something....

I agree in some respects, such as you need to allow the bottom sides to recruit more heavily, therefore more points should be given, however some room should be left for the top sides to be able to recruit as well, maybe 1 to 2 players, yet bottom sides have room for about 4 to 5 players. Given as you have mentioned, shoes & HV, brighton points should decrease this should be ok, however that is counting heavy on all players staying, if 1 or 2 leave, you are back were you started.

I think the goal for SFL is to have a better 'brand'. This will enable clubs to attract more consistantly better players, such as ex AFL, SANFL, regardless of if there is 1 divison or 2 divisons. If the branding is sh!t, it will always be hard to attract those type of players.

Game doesnt start until 4.45pm, that being said do you really think the AFL cares about grass roots footy?

Tomorrows the big day and I am looking forward to a clash between the 2 best teams all year.
Injuries have affected both sides so it wont be the strongest contest but still a cracker I'm sure
Will the Bombers grand finals experience give them an edge or will the Vikings be more desperate? I predict HV by 10 points
Hope one of these teams is going to be wearing there away guernsey or it will be bloody confusing

The only 2 new recruits to the club that attracted points were Petersen-Gray and Joel Brown, both from Lofty. The Eagletons do not attract any points as they were all juniors at HVFC. So Valley would have been playing with 8 points when you add the two for Borowski in his second year. Can't think of any others that they have that would be carrying points. Nice to have 4 Eagletons to call on at zero points, but I guess every club has their fortunes in this regard, but not many would have ever had 4 great players who are all brothers.

The Bombers are wearing their Yellow strip for the A grade game tomorrow. Standard practice for the away team in Brighton and HV games since both clubs have had an alternate strip. We wear our alternate strip in several games each year and our players and officials have no hang-ups about it. Of course at Brighton we always put the game ahead of our own interests.

At least it will be easier viewing than the B grade Prelim last week between Flaggies and the Emus. The clash of strip in that game was deplorable and shouldn't be allowed to happen in a final.

Agree, at A grade level at least, clubs should have an alternative guernsey. Would rather see the Bombers in Black, but I assume HV won that right due to finishing top. At the end of the day if the colour of the guernsey affects the players, there's something very wrong with their thought patterns.

Happy Valley are just happy to be there I reckon and would play in a sack if they had to but they also have a Yellow Big V guernsey and would have worn that if needed
SFL need to be tighter on this - our 14s and 16s semi final against Noarlunga was a shocker to watch - HV the home team but dont know if shoes have an away strip
AFC you confuse me - sometimes you support HV and then other times you support Brighton ?

I have a foot in both camps, so to speak. Tomorrow won't be an easy day for me. Especially with the pressure from my sons to conform to being a Viking..

I'll have to deal with that next year - the eldest Jr McSpaz will be suiting up for the Viking minis. He'd play for Aldinga like his dad but it's too far away and difficult to get to during the week with work commitments, whereas Valley is just up the road. He's already started stamping around the house roaring and swinging an imaginary axe, which is what he imagines Vikings do. (I suppose he's not too far off the mark, actually!)

I share your pain and look forward to welcoming the McSpaz Family to the junior Viking fold. Great sub junior program at HVFC, mine have loved every minute and we have enjoyed the social Friday nights training. Axe swinging is mandatory as are horned headwear.

Yeah, I've heard good things about the junior program there - we've got mates whose kids are playing there at the moment and they reckon it's a great culture for kids. Fantastic - I hope the parents get to wear horns as well. :D
