Gozu wrote:Extremist radio personality Alan Jones continues to sink to new lows:

VETERAN broadcaster and 2GB host Alan Jones has claimed Prime Minister Julia Gillard's father died of "shame" because of the political "lies" his daughter told.

He told a group of 100 Young Liberals that John Gillard's death was the fault of his proud child.

He went on to suggest Ms Gillard's tears of grief, for a man she publicly said she "will miss for the rest of my life", were what sparked a sudden leap in political polling for her.

Mr Gillard, a former psychiatric nurse, died in Adelaide on September 8, age 83.

The remarks occurred during Mr Jones' 50-minute speech at the annual $100-per-head Sydney University Liberal Club President's Dinner, on the top floor of Sydney's Waterfront restaurant in The Rocks last Saturday.

It's called free speech. I don't agree with his comments in this instance but you can't legislate against poor taste.

Only issue is the influence he has over so many that will think his comments are in any way accurate. Turnbull has already denounced his comments on twitter, anything less from Abbott will be a serious misread of the situation.

He certainly did when he successfully coached Australia's rugby union team. Way in front of NZ goose Robbie Deans who has taken us from half decent to hopeless. Jones also earns $4million a year which I know really wrankles the leftie socialists. He has a 20% share of Sydney's morning radio when other shock jocks in capital city markets go into celebratory meltdown if they can claim five or six per cent. I'm not endorsing what he said but surely we should all get over it.

I saw an interesting clip on youtube featuring Jones, Choppa Reade and Kerri Ann Kennelly, that I won't go into the specifics about.

Definitely very popular (as measured by ratings), but I've heard from someone who has worked in NSW radio industry in the past, not a particularly nice person.

Also given his supposed double life he's probably the last person who should be calling others a liar.

Shouldn't be any complaints from the right-wingers here over this, the market is god!

SPONSORS have pulled ads, regional radio dropped his show and community supporters of Alan Jones have dumped him from a CSG rally after his claims about the PM's father.

SPONSORS PULL SUPPORT FROM JONES' 2GB SHOW

Woolworths is the latest company to pull ads from the Sydney radio station part-owned by Alan Jones after his claims about the PM's father.

Their withdrawal comes as sponsors of the Sydney radio station part-owned by Alan Jones have been inundated with thousands of complaints about the talkback king's comments on the death of Prime Minister Julia Gillard's father.

These confirmed companies include: Woolworths, Mercedes Benz, Freedom Furniture and Challenger.

If their market share takes a dive they will be scrambling to get back on air at 2GB.

No one listens to Alan Jones radio show mate. It's only the politicians who give him any weight.

Sponsors are distancing themselves away from Jones now. Also what he has down has hurt the Liberal party in the eyes of swinging voters with families. As much as Andrew Bolt will say in today's Herald-Run that it is Jones not Abbott saying this it will hurt Abbott as Jones is a big Liberal party supporter I am lead to believe.
On Woolworths one of their managers made a comment about the PM which is also causing back lash on their company.

I have the amount of people who are distancing themselves over a managers comment. Which the bloke should not have said but his choice.
It was not a comment but a donation for a Liberal party Auction
The Community and Government Relations Manager of Woolworths Limited. At a fundraising event for the conservative Liberal Party of Australia, The Manager in question donated a 'chaff bag' for auction. The chaff bag represents a symbol of political violence against political opponents especially women. The chaff bag was introduced into Australia’s political debate by extreme right wing media commentators who advocated that the Australian Prime Minister Ms Julia Gillard be taken out to sea and dumped in a chaff bag. The Manager in question is a member of the Liberal Party and a former election candidate of the Liberal Party.

Abbott must be pulling his hair out over this, what a clanger.

Turnbull needs to make a move to help the Liberal party out. I don't see it happening tho.

Believe me he is seriously ambitious. He regards Abbott as bit of an obstacle and is on a mission to wrest back the leadership. I think it will happen.
