There will be a very happy SANFL club, whoever gets him in the mini-draft

I really dont rate Kurt Tippett as much as most people do. He should never have been the Crows highest paid player.

Considering he was a major target when they were going forward, he should have been scoring a lot more than he did, especially in a top side.

I just compared his stats to Lindsay Thomas, a small crumbing forward who is not typically a leading target, having D Petrie, L Hansen and R Tarrant in the forward line. So you would think Thomas wouldnt score as much as an AFL leading full forward, such as Tippett.

2012

Kurt Tippett
Games -21
Goals - 39
Av. goals per game - 1.8

Lindsay Thomas
Games - 19
Goals - 38
Av. goals per game - 2

Going by this, I dont think Tippets worth much. Just because he was the highest paid player doesnt make him valuable.

I dont mind Jesse White, because of his size he can become a difficult match up if used correctly,

I think the Swans have done very well here, they now have Reid and Tippett, they are two very tall atheletic forwards which will be difficult to match up on.

Especially if you consider the Hawks, Collingwood and Crows are going to be around the top 4 and you could say have slightly 'undersized' defences.

I think Tex Walkers step up in 2012 has softened the blow of Tippett going. Id prefer to lose Tippett over Walker.

Whufc, I agree that teams are now loading up on the big key forwards I think as a solution to the modern presses where you have to just bomb it in to your forwards quickly.

Yep and as much as I hate the crows they have done extremely well to keep dangerfield, sloane and walker. Losing Tippett is a small price to pay to keep the other 3

Sometimes I dont blame Kurt for wanting to leave, Especially after going on to the Tisers website today and seeing a photo of Bernie Vince on Holidays in Vegas.. I think half of this States culture problem can be blamed on having 1 print media outlet (and its today tonight trashy view on editing). I would rather read the SMH and see 1 small article about the potential trade of Tippet than reduce my intellegance by flicking through the pages of a Fox newspaper.

Its not just a fishbowl here, its how pathetic the media are.. They quote more from peoples twitter accounts than actual facts derived from quality journalism.

I certainly don't think Tippet is worth what he is asking but HH3 :)) =))
Without looking there would be a few more stat categories in Tippet's favour if that's what you base how good a player is.
The only stat for me is, impact player/potential match winner vs not.

My problem with Tippett is he is clumsy I've noticed that in a marking contest if he doesn't mark the ball he goes to ground too easy which may contribute to his marshmallow head condition.

Kurt Tippett's playing future?

Postby Turbo » Thu Oct 18, 2012 5:26 pm

He's definitely helped his ranking climb as one of the most disliked players in the comp now.

Good for footy. Establishes a new fiery rivalry hopefully. At least for the first year or two

I wonder what the mood would have been like if he'd played yet another stinker in the Prelim. :?
He's overrated & over payed but still a handy player to have.

Personally, I reckon Crows should just get whatever they can for him.
But whatever they do ... when they play against Sydney (if he ends up there) theyve just got to smash him physically at every contest.

For some reason, I just dont see him playing footy for a really long time. (dont know why...just do)
Yeah, Naah,..... Bollocks!

First time in 6 years and over 100 games that Lindsay Thomas has been called better than any other AFL player by anyone on this forum.

I would back Tippett over Thomas, he is one of the worst kicks going.
