South Adelaide's Facebook page has just posted that Andrew Ainger and Lachlan Carey WILL NOT be playinig for the Panthers next year...

"Ainger and Carey hold differing views on the on-field direction of the football club. SAFC was not prepared to compromise on this and it's salary cap in order to retain the players."

Ainger certainly will be a loss for them...

Ainger and Carey reflect all that is wrong with footy, they were recruited from lesser leagues when no one else was interested, there talents were improved by their recruiting club then they demand unrealistic money to stay at that club and hawk themselves around to the highest bidder when their club is already paying them highly. As disappointed as i am they are leaving iám proud of South taking a strong stance against non-team players. This behavour spreads like a cancer throughout a playing group.

"Differing views on the on field direction of the club"

Maybe they just can't see south improving much in the coming years and want to head elsewhere? Sounds like its more than just wanting more money

They may have had differing opinions as South had two of the best forwards in the SANFL but for some reason refused to kick the ball in quickly to them. With Wundke and Ainger up forward they should have played finals for sure

What a disgrace! I was waiting for this.

Ainger was the highest goal kicker in the ACT who could not get a "gig" anywhere else and South saw some potential in the lad. Came over in his first season with South and was given and set up with a "plum" job with the SANFL. Helped to find accommodation and helped to settle in SA. He did not alot first season but Ron Fuller persisted with him and saw the kid had something. This year (2nd year) was better. About 45 goals. End of season shopped around who ever dangled the carrot better....his mate Carey it seems has followed as well.

In a way Im bitter as South did so much for them both. In another way I am glad and it shows the true colours of someone who obviously has no interest being at the club, being loyal and giving something back.

If he goes down the Bay he will be well suited for it. Get that spray tan and hair ready!!!

Pffttt...glad the BS is over and done with and now lets focus on 2013 and forget them!!!
Is out of change.....thanks Cambridge Clarrie!!!

Disapointed that Andrew is leaving the club, but very happy to see the club stand up over it. What goes around comes around, South have some good players from rival clubs as pointed out above also. The good thing is that several SANFL clubs want him, so let the bidding war begin, would not be so great if only the one club wanted him, yet South stand to do pretty well financially out of it, as well as to clear space on our import list at the same time, so South are not losing out of it quite as badly as people may think.

amBays, substantial difference, Wundke and Stribling weren't recuited from obscurity from lesser comp's, had their juvenile talents enhanced, found accomodation, employment etc. Players leave clubs and transfer to others every year, but in this instance it's all about "what else are you going to do for me"?

Wasnt there a WAFC official who use to come on here and speculate about selections, tactics, both praise and critise players and the coaches moves.

Would have made for some awkward moments i imagine, that person has now moved on though hey.

Same one that had a little Nanny Nap at half time of the Grand Final instead of watching the clock, No?

Great news IMO, surprised about Dawson.
Harding, Dawson, Heinjus adding to our forward line depth with Staple, Grock and Fitzgerald, we should be spending our money on midfielders, not Ainger.

Good to see all these former players returning. Hopefully they do well and can make an impact at league level.
