No thought to the 1000's of Pakistan and Sri Lankan people who would hate it????

More classic comedy :D

As if giving the honour to Sachin Tendulkar would upset thousands of people in Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Firstly, they would probably not know about it. Secondly, Sri Lanka has already bestowed honours on Sachin.

Maybe you guys need to read this article, where even Tony Abbott applauded the decision of the Prime Minister to bestow honours on Sachin Tendulkar:

http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/brea ... 6497759878

or perhaps even this article, which shows that Tendulkar's record in Australia ranked him ahead of the other three recipients of the AM, Clive Lloyd, Sir Garfield Sobers and Brian Lara.

It doesn't matter. If it were Johnnie Howard doing the honours this lot would be golf clapping and wiping tears from their eyes.

Gozu, the wiping of tears should not take too long. Many appear to have only one eye. ;)

That actually sums up a lot. Aslong as it looks like we are bigging ourselves up it doesn't matter if small business / business is suffering

I strongly disagree with the award to Tendulka, irrespective of which government handed it to him. It is blatant pandering and I would be as critical of Howard as I am of Gillard. You keep underestimating me G

Fantastic - but pretty much useless. Still, a definite plus for us
But my local deli down the road just closed!

Labor's interference in regulations that make it almost impossible to employ anyone in a small business and of course the carbon tax which is wrecking everything. (or supposed to be - it hasn't impacted on me other than household bills seem to be higher than they were a year ago)

Why is unemployment so low then SP? The figures don't suggest it's almost impossible to employ anyone in small business.

Despite the blatant and indefensible mismanagement by the worst green-led socialist government in the western world!
I watched some of the end of the National Press Club presentation on TV today featuring the CEO of Dow Chemicals, Andrew Liveris.
I'm usually prejudiced against Americans and big corporations, but he seemed to make a lot of sense in the bits I saw when he was answering questions.

The generality of his message seemed to be that it doesn't pay to stifle small business and then suck up to big corporations, because making it easier for smaller businesses to develop a dynamic economy will attract the interest and investment of large corporations, who need resources supplied by the small players to operate efficiently. He cited the example of Dow's need for more energy than only a few players can deliver reliably.

He carefully avoided making specific comments about Australian political and economic policy, and stuck to generalities using overseas examples.
