I wonder if the GWS is actually serious about Tippett or is Sheedy just taking the piss again?

At the end of the day, he still gets to Sydney sort of and gets paid well but gets killed each week.

You should know. Barry Hall was his bitch, as was Matty Lloyd. Scarlo only played loose back towards the end of his career. Most football fans know this but some need it explained to them.

I wouldn't take Tippett if I was the GWS list manager. With Jeremy Cameron trying to take a screamer every game there is a chance he could get Tippett in the head and his career is over.

So now its being reported in Melbourne that Tippetts management has sent a letter to GWS and other clubs telling them that he will retire if drafted by them, he wont play for anyone but Sydney.
Isn't that draft tampering of the highest order?
Would love to see someone call his bluff and draft him

GWS should draft him and then he either stands out of footy or plays for them

He isn't a free agent for another 2 years despite acting like he is now.

Yep.
Even if he stands out for a season he would run the risk of any club picking him up at next years draft.

Sydney will get him. No team will waste their time picking a player who doesn't want to be there. If GWS do pick him against his will, expect a restraint of trade challenge which the afl don't want.

They've got way deeper pockets than the Tippett camp to fund what would likely be a lengthy court case by which time Tippett will be 30 with a pot belly when it's finished and he hasn't played for 6 years. There's also the issue if the draft tampering hanging over him if he wants to play legal hard ball.

The draft is fundamental to their comp and the AFL will fight it for as long as it takes.

Tippett won't be suing the AFL for restraint of trade.

No but the court may decide to let him play while the case is being argued. Aflpa might help out also.

The AFL will sit him out, they will not let a player jeopardise the draft. It's the AFL pride and joy which makes it the national comp it is.

Agree, if what is reported is true and the AFL dont sit him out or fight it to the death then this will set a precident that will see other players dictating where they end up before they are eligible for free agency. He would have to be one of the most disliked players going around the AFL at the minute. How many Sydney supporters actually want him, the way he and his manager have handled all this is so opposite to the way Sydney opperate. The rules are clear, you sign up for the draft then you go where you are picked. He can sit out but would Sydney actually want him after a year out? Or could they even get him, once he is out of the system his only way back in is the draft and pretty sure GWS will have an earlier pick again next year. The guy should just go to GWS play his two years, he is then a free agent and can go where he wants.

Isn't free agency if you give 7 or 8 years service to one club? So Tippet in all likelihood would never be a free agent

Think your right there, so he is cooked then.

Even so he could sign a two year deal and request to be traded at the end. It is not as though he would be doing it tough, $1million a year is a nice reason!

Tippett is a match winner when in form, like Cloke. The only people who don't rate Tippett now are Crow fans. Just remember, whatever Tippett's punishment, Adelaide will be hit harder.

P.s. Not really fussed if Tippett makes it to the swans. If he does great. I'm sure the culture at Sydney will bring out the best in him.

I personally have never said that I don't rate Tippett but I still don't think he is a match winner yet, Cloke can kick long goals and has won games of his boot, Tippett is yet to do this. Nearly did in the prelim, but he did have some help. He may get hit twice if he is not careful, sending letters to clubs saying he wont play for them if selected will add to his woes IMO. If all this hadn't happened I would still love for him to be at the Crows and is definitely tough to replace.
