But, its hard to count calories, when you go to a deli or carvery for lunch, which is easier then cooking lunch for the day and taking it with you. But, i will try it, for a few weeks, and see what goes..

carbs = 4 cals per car gram
protien = 4 cals per protien gram
fat = 9 cals per fat gram.

is this what i should go by?

Make sure a fair portion of your diet includes protien. While a deficit will guarantee you weight loss it may not give u the 'look' you after. If you don't include lots of protein you may find you lose muscle size and start to get that 'scrawny' look.

Depends on what ur losing the weight for really.

Don't quote me but I have heard a 45:35:20 protein, carbs, fat ratio is a pretty good way to go

yes thansk for the advice , yeah protein is good, i know. I am trying to look a lot better, i hate looking at myself in the mirror. The years that i havent done much have taken its toll on me being lazy :D Being 33 now its been nearly 10 years since i did serious weight training. Dont want to be bulked up like i havent got more then 1% body fat on me, but just want to feel confident in walking down the beach with my shirt off and look good .Lose about 10-15 kilos would be good, current weight at the moment is 97 kilos, and want to shed it . I do alot of running, and because of my poor diet i stay at the same look.but will try this calorie counting, and yes, thanks kikinit for the advice on the website that you have given me for the food searching for how many calories each item has, has helped a bit. I did a calorie calculator and it says i can have up to 1800 calories a day at my current weight (not sure if this is correct or not, or am i reading it wrong), i am 97kilos, 6foot2 and 33 years old., so looking to reduce it gradually over the next few weeks.

But i will always give anything a try. I tried the gel thing mixing it with water that is going around, but it tasted disgusting and didnt do much for me to give me more energy whilst exercise, actually nearly threw up because of that gel.

Yeah I know how u feel, I lost 22kg based purely on the create a deficit method, it obviously worked very well and I lost the beer gut which is what I hated most only problem I have is I probably didn't eat healthy enough and loss a fair bit of muscle in particular the bi's, tri's and calfs.

Having my time over I would have preferred to get alot more protein in my diet as well as hitting the resistance work earlier. It may have taken longer to lose the 22kg as a number but I wouldn't have people asking whether I have been on the Jenny Craic diet or purely used duromine for the loss.

Forget all the wonder pills, super shakes etc the best advice I can give is do the basics right.

Eat breakfast non negotiable, aim for 3 main meal and 2-3 healthy snacks a day, drink your required amount of water, buy everything in reduced fat type/low sugar products, really limit beer and soft drink.

Make sure whatever diet you choose it's maintable for the for see able future. Eat the very occasional nasty product as I'm sure u will not go the rest of your life never eating a piece of cake for example ever again

This. And show some commitment.

Not a fan of counting every last calorie, just get to know your body and your food. Smashing quarter-pounders and guzzling beers won't help you reach your goals.

I'd actually start at 2000 calories a day. and see how that goes for a week or and adjust it down if needed. I'd look at losing 1-2 kilos a week, but your first week will be your biggest. Weigh youself on monday mornings, get up go to the toliet and then weigh yourself.

My missus has just ordered some stuff, I think it's called Dfine8 (or similar).

I always worry about whats in these sorts of things and possible side effects etc .. Most of the Forums I've read up on have actually been pretty positive, but thought I'd check in here for any thoughts or feedback?

D-Fine8 is a thermogenic and proprietary blend. I dislike proprietary blends for my own reasons, but doesn't mean they're all rubbish.

However, thermogenics are really more for people looking to, for instance, get their BF% down from 10% to 8%. I reckon they're almost useless for your average person looking to lose a few kilos, especially if they haven't got into a good routine with diet and exercise first.

Apparently MOS Burger is opening up in Sunnybank in Brisbane (sunnybank is like woodville in Adelaide, big asian community)

Heard it is suppose to be a fast food restuarant, but much healthier and taste better....might have to have a looky during the week

The missus does about 7 or 8 classes a week (pump, body attack etc) so I'm not sure, but I'd guess it's a pretty reasonable routine?

Ahh yep, that's a fair effort!

This is what's in the proprietary blend:

Proprietary Blend 2000mg
CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid)
Cactus Leaf Extract
Citrus Aurantium (containing Synephrine)
Guarana (providing caffeine)
Dandelion Leaf Extract
D-Glucuronolactone
Green Tea Leaf Extract

I hate that they don't tell you how much of each is in there (like how much guarana I'm actually taking), but there's nothing nasty on the list.
