A much better player than any current Glenelg player you can conjur up - even on one leg.

After Gibbs was drafted, they gave up their second best and some even said he was of no value. no spoons this year, maybe a wooden shovel (some call it a f*%$'n spade) Can you turn the first sod of a housing development with a wooden shovel?

Okay then, Willetts is better than the reigning Magarey Medalist.....

Care to have a wager on the next encounter Coorong???

BTW whats our original wager I've lost my PM on what we agreed to west higher than my lot???

The wager was a slab or equivalent $'s to whoever finishes higher at the end of home/away

Weed is confient

Postby Thiele » Fri May 11, 2007 10:25 pm

WHEN West Adelaide last visited Alberton Oval, the Bloods were in serious trouble.

Eight rounds into the 2006 season and Wayne Weidemann's men were yet to register a win . . . until they caused the boilover of the year by toppling the Magpies.

While the memories of that unexpected triumph are still clear, Weidemann's charges are carrying forward much more confidence this time around.

"I mentioned that in the after-match speech (on Saturday), that last time we went there it was our first win," Weidemann said.

"But we go into this game now with a lot more confidence than we had last time. That can only help us because it's a pretty tough gig winning down at Port."

Importantly, when the game has been on the line late in the last term during the Bloods' past two encounters, they have got the job done.

And with the supply to spearhead Damian Cupido continuing to improve, Weidemann can see his plans coming to fruition.

West left plenty of space in front of Cupido against Woodville-West Torrens on Saturday and the former South Adelaide forward led onto the ball nicely.

It resulted in Cupido having nine shots on goal (4.5) and if he has the same opportunities again against the Magpies, there's a good chance his conversion rate will improve.

"We're starting to win some ball in close and our skill level is getting better," Weidemann noted.

"When you've got good skill level and get it going forward, not too many people are going to hold Damian Cupido down if he gets on a lead and you kick the ball out in front."

At selection, West included three possible debutants, Jesse Smith (Carlton), Michael Hooper (North Bullants and Jeremy Rowe (Wagga). Luke Jericho was called up by the Crows.
