FA Cup 2012/13

Postby Il Duce » Wed Nov 14, 2012 6:41 pm

I know 3rd round proper starts in January however the 2nd round proper has a game which I think a lot of people would be interested in seeing

1 or 2 December 2012 Milton Keynes Dons – AFC Wimbledon Stadium mk, Milton Keynes

If people want i cant put all up all the results and the rest of the draw
The problem with Barcelona is that I like fish and chips but they had to turn it into calamari and patatas

Well it wasn't know they would play each other till they won the replay matches, but i'm glad this wasnt random if thats the case.

I will so be on the Wimbledon bandwagon for the match, absolute disgrace what happen to them.

Same, i actually had a soft spot for Wimbledon and I supported them against anyone expect United.
Was lucky enough to see them play at Selhurst Park in the EPL in 1996
Was a disgrace what happened to them.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Relocation ... ton_Keynes

You can read all about it there.

The short is - in 2002 Wimbledon FC where owned by a Norwegieen who was looking to off load them, they found a buyer and he moved the team from south London to Milton Keynes about 100 km away, changed the name from Wimbledon FC to MK dons.

it took a campaign and boycotting from wimbledon fans who had formed afc wimbledon for mk dons to return 88 fa cup to wimbledon council. This will be the first time the two teams will face each other

real interesting read cheers for the Ducey!!

A part i found interesting and didnt know was how unsuccessful the move to Selhurst Park was. Wimbledon FC had no other option due to the Taylor report and lack of funds, Selhurst was clearly the best solution yet there was still an element unhappy. Maybe if the fans embraced the Selhurst Park move the original Wimbledon FC could still be around.

Would be interesting to know how many original Wimbledon FC fans support MK Dons as dropping the Dons section of their name seems pretty logical.

Similar situations on obviously smaller scales is currently happening in the SA Amatuer league, with long time established clubs struggling like most for coin and new clubs in built up areas propping up quicker than you can keep track off.

This one has got me thinking aboutthe current Cardiff City situation, which would be pretty hard to handle.

United always draw Premier League teams in this comp, it's becoming a bit of a joke.

At least Cardiff should get through to the 4th round.

I cannot believe that Leicester have drawn Burton Albion in the Cup who we also drew in the League Cup earlier in the season and duly got bundled out at home 5-2  This is also at the KP Stadium and I would suggest with out being cocky that there will be no repeat of that (I hope) result but it is Leicester so who knows!

Yep, would have loved to see a replay at Kingsmeadow, the home crowd would go nuts.

Just from watching and a couple of forums I have read, it seems to be abit of a one way rivalry.

It almost seems the MK Dons fans would prefer if every affiliation the Wimbledon was given to AFC.

In most of there minds they support a new club from Milton Keynes whose creating its own history.

It's abit of a piss take they were heard singing 'your losing to a franchise'
