Only 1/2 time Mc A.

Got the pray emoticon there...

As an aside, I loaded up a 1975 Derby v Burnley clip off YouTube the other night, complete with Hugh Johns commentary. Classic.

Henry Newton v Keith Newton! Leighton James is still at Burnley, as is Ray Hankin. Mike Summerbee, Willie Morgan (didn't know he played at Turf Moor). It's a very good Burnley side. Derby is the reigning champion and it's the one season that Francis Lee, Kevin Hector and Charlie George played in the same team.

Thanks McA. What a cr4p penalty by the Welsh Wing Wizzard. Did you catch the the little bit of banter between ex City team mates Franny Lee (Derby) and Mike Summerbee (Clarets)

Lee was on of the great characters in football. Remember one time (can't remember who City were playing at the time) when he was demonstrating to the ref that the player had dived to win a free. Kept going up to the ref and diving on the floor in front of him. Was sooooooooooo funny. Think he got booked for it, but it really was funny.

Also the time, playing Leeds, when he has a fist fight with Billy Bremner. They both got sent of and then continued to trade punches all along the toughline down to the tunnel. Great stuff

EPL Relegation (The story unfolds)

Postby johntheclaret » Mon May 14, 2007 2:57 am

At Old Trafford, Fergie fields a weakened side No Scholes, Ronaldo, Vidic, Ferdinand and others.
Wigan go 1 - 0 up at Sheff U when Shrner scores after 14 mins. WHU in the relegation spot
Stead scores for Sheff U after 38 mins to make it 1 -1. Wigan in the relegation spot.

Then 1 minute of madness for Sheff U

Man U 0 - 1 as Tevez scores for WHU on 45mins. Wigan still in the relegation spot
Unsworths scores a 45 min penalty to give the lead back to Wigan (Sheff U 1 - 2 Wigan). Sheff U in the relegation spot.

United bring on Ronaldo and throw everything but the kitchen sink at WHU but get get through to score.
Mc Culloch is sent off for Wigan, on 74 mins, who then have to play the last 15 mns with 10 men.
The final whistle at Old Trafford. WHU are saved and retain ELP status.
The ref calls 5 minutes added time at Bramall Lane to no avail for Sheff U as they fail to break down 10 man Wigan.
Final whistle blows and Sheff U are relegated.

At the start of the day it was matter of who would survive, WHU or Wigan. No one expected WHU to actually win at Old Trafford and with Wigan beating Sheff U, they become the suprise team to go down.
Sheff U v Wigan and Man U v WHU were described as £50m (around $100m) games. Sheff U will be around £50m worse off next year playing in the CCC.

Watched both games simultaneously on split screen. Won't do that again.

Jewell has left Wigan and Pearce sacked by City so those clubs will be joining Newcastle in looking for a new boss though I think Wigan have appointed their assistant.

Confirmed today RM that Jewell will not be joining MAn C despite speculation. He has said that he left Wigan to take time off for a while ????? Must have been a pretty high pressure job, especially that relegation run in. Remember it is worth more than £50m to the club that stays up, or goes down. That amounts to a whole lotta responsibility.

One that note, Sheff U has got support from Fulham, Charlton, Middlebro in there efforts to get WHU deducted points over the ineligable player affair involving Tevez (who, ironically, scored the winner at Man U to keep the Hammers up).
EPL officials have sent a letter to all 20 ELP clubs explaining their decision.
It ain't over yet and ther has even been suggestions of a 21 team EPL next year with Sheff U surviving (yeah that gonna happen)
Next they will be suggesting that they only let two up from the CCC and keep the EPL to 20 with Sheff U retaining their place. Strange as it seems, legally, they could do this as the CCC and EPL are two different leagues with the CCC being governed, along with all the other lower leagues, by the FA. Each CCC team has to apply to the EPL to be accepted. In this case the EPL could refuse the play off winners application and there is not much they could do about it. Sheff U on the other hand could take legal action against the EPL, after they set a precedent in the past, (this being the basis of Sheff U's claim), and legal action could drag on and on into the new season.

If you are reading this McA

CCC Playoff 15th May

Postby johntheclaret » Wed May 16, 2007 5:25 am

Dunno if any of you guys are watching this.

Unbelievable start,

Moore has scored for Derby,

Derby 1 - 0 Soton 3 mins gone.

Soton's Viafara scores superb goal after Derby keeper heads the ball away from outside his own box. 1 - 1 afer 4 mins.

Edit

1/2 time Derby 1 - 1 Saints Good open game. Any one is the winner here

54 mins gone. Viafara scores his 2nd to put Saints 2 -1 up. All square on aggregate.

All Saints now. Rams really under pressure. Ball in Rams penalty box for about 30 seconds with Soton just taking pot shots.

Wide open game. no golden goal rule. No away goals rule, 30 mins extra time and penalties if all square after 90 mins.
Incidentally, penalties will be taken at the Saints end (if that matters ??)

Derby score from an own goal. Rams 2 - 2 Saints 65 mins (Rams up 4 - 3 on aggregate)
Soton seemed to run out of steam now. Jaganowsky, who was causing havoc all night has been taken of and replaced by Rasziak (Scored 19 this season for Soton)

Mc A, you can smile again, but hold your breath mate.

76 mins 2 - 2

89 mins. Rasziak scores for Saints. Rams 2 - 3 Soton (4 - 4 agg) Of cousre he had to score didn't he
Sorry Mc A, don't shoot the messenger

Full Time. Rams 2 - 3 Soton (Aggregate 4 - 4)

Playing 1st period of extra time. 15 mins each way.

The 3 games in the CCC play off's this year have been outstanding. A real good advert for the game. In some ways it has similarities to the SANFL from what I read. Doesn't quite have the skills of the EPL, but what it lacks in skills and money, it makes up for in passion. The true game. The EPL, somewhat like the AvFL is often sterile although they do have the most skillfull players, and of course all the dosh.

Great stuff CCC.

Edit

After First period Extra Time Rams 2 - 3 Saints

Still wide open game. Obvious no one is playing for the PSO. The rain has made the ball move that much quicker of the surface and has added to the speed that the game has been played.

Edit

30 mins gone. Playing 90 secs of added time.

Full Time. All square 4 -4 aggregate.

Now the penalty shoot out. Rams already lost once this season on penalties, losing to Doncaster Rovers in the Carling Cup.

Edit

Kicking to the away fans end
Saints win toss and chose to kick 1st

Bywater in nets for Rams, for the Saints

Best MISSES 0 - 0
Jones SCORES 0 - 1 Rams
Sharman SCORES 1 - 1
Howard SCORES 1 - 2 Rams
Scachell SCORES 2 - 2
Barnes SCORES 2 - 3 Rams
Rasziak SCORES 3 - 3
McEveley SCORES 3 - 4 Rams

All on this

Idiakez MISSES

Rams win. and go to Wembely. Ironic the Idiakez missed the target completely. He was sold by Derby to Sainits at the beginning of the season.

Great composure to the Rams players, who had to kick towards the 5,000 Saints fans.
Some fans throwing objects at the Rams keeper when Saints taking the penalties. Poor Form

Mc A. You can smile again. Hope you get up and read this before you go to work. :D

WBA 1 - 0 Wolves. Phillips again

Not a great game. To be honest, lost interest in the 2nd half.

Hey JTC, are there any murmurings over there of whether any of the EPL clubs are likely to target Eto in the off season ... Similarly any whispers on the likes of Alves, Villa and Torres?

Let's worry about the legal action later! Bring on the 28th! Forza Derby!

Idiakez had been a good player for Derby. Still is!

Can't recall anything regarding Alves or Villa.

News was Man U made an approach to Torres but he truned them down. Rumour has it Fergie has a war chest of £50m and will make another approach.

Man U again asked after Eto'o but the price tag of £40m is reported to have turned them off. If £40m is the price tag then I can't see anyone else other than Chelski having the bucks to get him, and according to Moroniho, the Chelski cheque book is closed.

Will keep an eye out C_P.

As always, will post any news on here.
