Good point Amaretti, he currently is Captain of Rose Park A grade while Steve Neal is absent and all reports from his team mates is that he always makes the right decisions.

Great points guys. Cougar's leadership qualities have remained completely unnoticed until you two chaps just pointed them out. ;)

You sure u blokes are talking about the right bloke? It was an innings out of necessity for fear of being lynched by the bowlers after batting first in overcast conditions. The mutiny was being led by Ian Henderson and his new bowling comrade Brenton Reidy.

Nah hes useless. Hit the opener for some 4's and got out snicking one to the keeper in the 3rd over.

I think Hendo was even more annoyed at your decision to bat first after copping a getting out LBW cheaply to a ball that was crashing into middle about halfway up the sticks. ;)

Cougar captains from the old WG Grace manual. Win the toss first and bat.

As for LBW, I just hope George is consistent this week

Anyway did Dutchy clean up the tail this week? I see he got some wickets

Heard tonight at Ass. Training that NSW are only sending 1 side to the carnival this year (They normally send 2) so Victoria will add an extra side combining Camberwell and frankston from the premier divison. Not knowing a lot about what league they were from i had a look through mycricket when i got home one side has Brendon Drew in it the other Bryce McCain and they play against Brad Hodge, Herrick, O'Bbrian, Sheridan and Ryan Sidebottom

The 2 sides play in the equivalent to our district competition. Lets just hope they dont play full strength.....
you've gota keep on keep'n on .........

surely they would not allow them to play as the rules were ,you could not be part of a turf comp and had to be hard wicket only ?
otherwise we could get turf players as well.......dont see the point of allowing this side to enter as they would just stroll through and pretty much win ?imo.
dont really care as I am looking forward to playingin my first carnival  and looking forward to having some fun with the team.
if selected 8) that is. lol. good turn out last night with some new talent and old talent as well (sorry cougar) ;)
was a bit of fun bowling and batting on turf again, looks like there will be some hard decissions to finalise the squad, will be some talent left out ,but will only make the team that much stronger.....good luck to those that are picked and unlucky to those that miss out.
bring on the 2012 carnival.....

Sounds like you two rabbits are scared! Who cares who you play, why wouldn't you want the privilege of playing against high quality opposition?

As for the turf/hard wicket comment smasha, think you'll find SA is the only team that plays it's comp on hard wicket only..

you think so ?
dont think I am scared at all. dont give a crap who we play against, just thought it was a bit rough when you put a side in this comp and then told you have a district level team being put together ?
dont really care AS I SAID EARLIER....fair enough on the turf/hard wicket phantom , as I also said this is my first carnival so not sure on what to expect.....just want to go have a couple of games do my best and have several beers afterwards

I hope the team is picked on youth and development of the side as was the case last match. Judging by the names Holland, MacDonald & Balding being thrown around I guess not! Wasn't Matt Sandford picked last game against Adelaide Turf as it was more important for the Association to pick a young player in front of an older bowler? Sounds like a boys club this comp!

Bar20 what has age got to do with it? If these blokes are the best players currently in the association, y shouldn't they be picked in front of a young bloke who might struggle when the heat is on.
I think to many people use age as a excuse!

  Clown, you are a fair dinkum joke! Spoken like some complete peanut who has no concept whatsoever about how I or our rep selections operate. As for picking 'old' players, perhaps you should familiarize yourself with the form guide before you start tapping uninformed twaddle out on your keyboard and make an ass of yourself yet again - MacDonald smacked a ton and Holland racked up the bowling equivalent of a ton with a 5-fa last match. Maybe you could make yourself available for the next 2 trainings, 6pm at Prospect Oval nets?? I'm sure Balding & Holland would relish the opportunity to send a few down over 22 yards, and then maybe you can give me some firsthand, value-added feedback??

For the benefit of other posters (yourself excluded), the side next week will be based on the best of who has made themselves available. End of story.

bar 20..........I have been told anything as I like so many others am just a player trying to make the cut.
just to clarify a few things....
IF I MAKE THE SIDE, I AM 41 YEARS OLD , AN OPENING BOWLER OR A FIRST CHANGE .
I MAKE RUNS VERY QUICKLY WHICH IN ONE DAYERS IS A GOOD THING.
IF I MAKE 0 THEN ALL YOU HAVE LOST IS A HITTER. THATS WHAT THE TOP ORDER IS FOR , TO MAKE RUNS AND USE US (HITTERS) TO MAKE QUICK RUNS WHEN NEEDED.
ALSO I AM STILL NOT TO BAD IN THE FIELD.
IF THERE IS A YOUNGER GUY THAT IS AVAILABLE AND PLAYING BETTER THAN ME THEN HE WILL GET THE SPOT BEFORE ME.
SIMPLE REALLY.
AGE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT AT ALL, I HAVE THE PERMISSION SLIP FROM THE MRS
AND HAVE PUT MY NAME UP FOR SELECTION, JUDGING BY LAST NIGHTS ASSOC TRAINING I HELD MY OWN PRETTY WELL.
SO IF SELECTED IT WILL BE BASED ON MY ABILITY ,
SO NOW LET THE SMART AR$E$ HAVE A GO AT ME MAKING OR NOT MAKING THE SIDE.
