After a start of 1/1 Hodo (27) and Smith (33) steadied the ship for us we then a middle order collapse of sorts before Borgy made a very nice 60 and McLoud a handy 17.

Like I said disappointing but we move on to tomorrow and hope for a better result.

Must also mention a handy spinner they had that bowled very well and took a few handy scalps.

Getting on it tonight then?

Nah buddy still off it were still a chance at winning it so whilst that is still a chance which is what i'd really love do toI'll stay off it I've come this far although sitting in the casino watching the strikers game not drinking is far from easy!

Well after some over night rain and still some light showers hanging around its looks like a delayed start to today's game against Westerns albeit they are very light showers.

One change to today's line up Trianos in to the 11 with Spry to miss today's game and Gully named 12th therfore will only bowl and not bat with Ash McDonald again the batsmen who is listed not to bowl.

carey wrote:Well after winning the toss and electing to field SA bowled out Sth Districts in the 39th over for 195. A great come back after there great start at 3/125 after 30 odd overs. Sth Districts having a opening bat that's spent time on the Victorian list.

Great fielding effort by all a long with some very bowling in partnerships. Hodo a great catch, Harry kept well and there was just the one tough chance that went down. Pidge even took a catch!

Mcloud 3/21 off 6
Baldo 3/47 off 8
Holland 2/16 off 6
Atkins 2/36 off 8
Gully 0/43 off 13 unlucky
Spry 0/28 off 4

All in all good start to the time but only half a job done time to bat well and finish the game off.

3/47 off 8, dispatched. well batted borgy. unlucky loss

Carey am i reading this right, Ash McDonald isn't fielding today and didn't yesterday? Isn't the bloke the Vice Captain? I remember playing with him at Kersbrook a few years ago and one of his good points is his knowledge of setting fields. Spry, isn't he the young bowler from Fitzroy? I would be playing him for the future of the Association in front of some older bowlers?

Think you'll find he will field, he is just ineligible to bowl. 12 players picked - 11 bat, 11 bowl so he will bat and not bowl and Gully will bowl but not bat.

As for Spry I disagree, the experience of touring will hold him in good enough stead for the future and for anyone whose played 5 days of cricket, it's tough on the body and half the battle is managing people, with a side that does have some older heads including Balding, I think Spry will get more opportunities later in the week,

Am surprised still that Gully continues to miss out on a chance to bat though, he can hit a ball..

A fantastic fight back by SA after Western were 2/105 off 29 overs to be bowled out in the 42nd over for 137 a fantastic effort to fight back from that.

Lead by McLoud with 5/25 off 10 great work
Gully 1/33 off 8
Baldo 0/26 off 8
Pete Atkins 2/37 off 12
Jon Smith 0/15 off 4
With a run out

A great effort by McLoud to get a carnival 5fa and a good performance by all in the field again just the one chance going down. Also thought Atkins done a great job for us in to the breeze.

Our turn to bat tho on a wicket that has a little bit in it so hopfully we finish off our good start to the day.

And who would these older bowlers be mate? All these older bowlers you speak of seem to bowl very well yesterday therfore they got the nod over Spry simple as that mate.

Ash stays on the field as VC and has plenty of input he is just nominated as our non-bowler.

I see your point but with Baldo listed at 11 would you prefer Baldo or Gully in the 11? I'm happy with our choice.

All in all a great days cricket for the south Aussie lads chasing down the 137 with ease ending up 3/139.

Again off to a rocky start 1 for under 10 but again Hodo (29 off 47) and smith (15 off 16) settled down and put on 40 odd before an unbeaten partnership of 86 from Ash (38*off 91) and Borgy (42*off 97) brought us home.

Hopfully other results help us even more but were well and truly back in the hunt to bring the shield home for the first time in 63 years.

Still 3 days to go but happy days at the minute.

Still amazes me why people have to take pot shots and knock everything this side does especially after a good win we had today.

Spry and you would've read didn't play today
Harris was keeper and where would you like him to bat? We got the runs 3 down.
Mistroni opened and made 1
Trianos was in next but again we got the runs 3 down.

If Harris and Trianos bat above Smith, Hodo or Ash people would rightly sook yet Harris and Trianos don't get a hit as we have a good win and peolpe question there contributions how about congratulating the side on a good win.

WOW!! Ask a question and all I get back is signs of PMS!! Read your match reports, the 4 players I asked about are the 4 that you have made no mention of!! Grow up carey, it was a simple question!!

Not drinking does that to me!

I guess that's not really directed at you it's just the team has copped a lot of negitivity and I thought that was more sorry Biggsy if that was a genuine question I take that back.

NSW tomorrow big test for us as they had a win today therfore they're also 1 and 1 so we just have to keep winning....

Dancing my good man are you serious? And hear I was thinking you knew something about the game I had a gut feel to go with McLoud before me and looking at his figures pretty sure that was justified but next time I'll make a change even though were flying along with the game in our control just to please rabbits on the forum

Carey it is fanntastic with you in your twilight years that there are so many with so much enthusiasm who can take pot shots from 900 kms away. These snipers should find their calling and join the army. The middle east would have found peace years ago.
Keep up the good work looking after the troops. The enemies are the ones you'll be fronting in the next few days. The demographics are against you but keep the easterners honest.
For every one I miss I am closer to a hole in one.
